Season 29 - Friday F2 Trophy - Round 19 - Le Mans Bugatti

The Friday series moves to France for the Le Mans Bugatti circuit, a permanent track used as part of the Le Mans 24 hour race. It was the track actually used for the French F1 Grand Prix during the 1967 season.

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan  thumbup1

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 11-03-2016
GPL mod = F2
60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod
Track dir = Bugatti
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 26 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

I definitely have an itch to go racing. So I will if I am available.

*Good to be back, I have been away long enough that every aspect was a challenge. These are good cars for me because they let me focus on the fundamentals. I should be able to improve my braking, corner speed and corner exit. It was a lot of fun. Good race guys.

So I was looking at the points standings, and doing a little math (it's OK, I'm a professional): as I'm 10 points down with one race left, but both Cookie and I will drop one result (him losing 16 and me 13), that means I need to make up 7 points...

So if I win the last one, with Axel 3rd, we'd be tied on points, and either co-champions (I'd be fine with that) or would I take it on 6 wins vs. 4?

Of course, that relies on me winning at Le Sarthe in a Mk. 2B (and I think Axel has the Mk. 4 left) so, yeah fat chance.  laugh

I don't really like this track but for some strange reasons I always have good races here + F2s are fun so I could not miss the event. Smiley

I had a good qual, with some promising changes in the setup. After a cautious start I settled for 5th, then 4th, then 3rd. Then I saw a wheel flying off Carlos' car and I was 2nd behind Axel. Tenths by tenths I could close the gap between us, but the real fight never happened, after a small error from Axel I inherited P1.

Once he came back from the sand I had a good 5-6s between us. This grew to 10s and then came the penultimate lap when I ran out of fuel... :S I started my last lap in the pits, refueled, saw Axel and Dean passing, hurried back to the track and that was it.

P3 is a bit disappointing when my first victory was so close, but that's GPL Cheesy

Grats Axel, Dean! Thanks all for the race!

Hey that 2B isn't half bad at Le Mans.  A little down on top speed but pretty great otherwise...

Some more pissy problems with my PC this morning so I've had to jump over to the laptop...again...to reach the NET.  The Big Boy goes into the shop early this AM for a looksee.

Just wanted to jump in here with apologies to Dave R for the punt(major).  Not sure how that developed but it was a bad scene and clearly my bad.

Dean...  You need to sharpen your pencil, bud.  Hint, hint...

Sorry Dave C.  Sad

I completely forget my braking point...
Hopefully, your final result is not so bad.

My begin of race was correct I was 4th struggling with Jani until Doni rear ended me. Then we ran closely during  several laps with Doni and Dave C. until I made this big mistake. Sorry again.

Unfortunately I will not be there next Friday with the GT (I will be on holidays near the Swiss boundary at Les Rousses).

Doni, just read your post.
No problem, and I did exactly the same with Dave C.
