Season 27 Historic Trophy - Round 9 - Sebring 67

The penultimate race finds us in the USA at Sebring.

The first 12 Hours of Sebring was held on March 15, 1952, and the event would grow to become a major international race. In 1959, the racetrack hosted the first Formula One Grand Prix in the United States. Due to the poor attendance and high costs, the next United States Grand Prix was held at Riverside.

For much of Sebring's history, the track followed a 5.2 miles (8.4 km) layout. In 1967, the Webster Turn between the hairpin and the top of the track was removed and replaced with the faster Green Park Chicane, which was closer to the hairpin and allowed a flat-out run through a very fast corner to the top of the track and the runway; this made the circuit 50 yards longer. The circuit was also widened. Many of these changes were prompted by the 1966 12 Hours where 5 people were killed during the race. Another dangerous section was the Warehouse straight; after a crash where a Porsche went into one of the warehouses and into a crowd, the organizers installed a chicane to move the Warehouse straight further away from the warehouses and buildings. We will use the 1967 layout.

There will be full moderation of lap one Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under PRO rules so no resets are allowed.

For THIS RACE, 3 liter cars must be selected

As with Round 8, the leaders are asked to restrict themselves to Group I and Group II.

Handicapping could well make a difference here but Tristan's wheels would have to fall off after a dominant season. Silver and Bronze are definitely up for grabs though so Dean may be able to take advantage.

MagicArsouille               Group I
AnGex and Doni Yourth   Group II

"Ramble . . . ramble!"  It's the rambling maddog to the rescue!  The story so far, is that our Masters refuse to show the full track title for each race.  We are ordered instead to click the little track button, to discover the secret title. Smiley  At time of writing, this devious plan leads me to a blank page.  We must therefor assume the track has not yet been built.  There are 2 different versions available, so this seems a tad demanding,.  May I suggest some clarification, unless you prefer to continue to frustrate the motoring masses. Thanks to Jethro for correcting my mis-type.

I just D/L Sebring track OK

BUT

When I try to run the installer I get this .............

You have reached 64 max tracks in 67 season.ini !

Are you using the new tracklimit of 256 ?

If you are unsure accept No because GPL will not work with more then

64 tracks on unpatched GPL.exe
  Huh

What to do ?

Worried from Wigan  Undecided Undecided Undecided

edit to add , tried to d/l GPL patch inspector , but guess what ? its available from SRMZ and i'm locked out of that one  :'(

Bernie,
There is a way of increasing the number of tracks to 256(?) - but I don't know how that works.
I reached the 64 track capacity limit a while ago - my solution is to delete a couple of tracks that I don't much like from the "Tracks" folder (there are a few of them).
I then go to the "Seasons" folder, open up the 67  file & delete the the relevant entries from the list, renumber the reaminaing list & go to the top & change the total number of tracks. I am sure there is a better solution but this does work.

The 1.3 Patch does indeed add support for more tracks. It is explained here:

http://srmz.net/index.php?app=ccs&module=pages&section=pages&id=1&record=14

Please give the description a good read.

If you don't want to patch your GPL to v1.3, do the following:

Go to C:\Sierra\GPL\seasons

backup your 67season.ini by renaming it to 67seaso2.ini .

Copy gp.ini and rename the copy to 67season.ini.

Now you can run the Sebring installer.

You can switch between 67season and 67seaso2 in GEM+ to access your earlier tracks.

Tommie.

It must be 64 in the 67season.ini!

Just open it with an editor and look if there are tracks listed you have not installed. (or double entrants Roll Eyes )
Delete them and restore the right consecutive numbers.

Look at the counter and edit the numbers Wink -> numEvents=xx

Yes!

But the total number of events has to be on top in numEvents=xx

If you have still problems just copy and paste the text of the .ini here into a quote Wink
