Bit of a belated race report - I was away on holiday early Friday morning so spent most of Thursday night after the race packing!
The Cobra was a real challenge round here, but lots of fun. Can't remember much of the start, but I think it was Geoffers who got in front for a few corners. After he went wide I was back up to second, chasing Federico...and that's how it stayed for most of the race. The Daytona was better out of the slow corners and on the straights, but the Cobra had the edge through some of the fast corners and was much better on the brakes. It made for some great racing. I was never quite get close enough to make a move into the hairpin and Federico was always gone by the end of the fast corner onto the back straight. I'd claw it back under braking at the end of the straight and then again through the first corner. Managed to get alongside a few times at this point and we'd be side-by-by side for the first sector, but I couldn't make it stick and he'd be ahead again after the hairpin.
About halfway through the race Federico made a mistake and I was able to get ahead, but I pushed too hard trying to make a gap and got it a bit sideways and he was able to catch back up and pass on the straight. The tyres were starting to go off by this point and it got harder and harder to get the power down cleanly. It got a bit too much with a few laps to go and I left the track and spent what felt like an age trying to get it straight before rejoining
Federico was long gone by this time and, try as I might, I wasn't able to close back up.
Grats on the win, Federico - great racing
