1967 Fun Race - Stardust

This is a test event for Season 28, using the 67 mod. The track was released in 2013 by Ginetto, so I’m expecting good things.

The Stardust International Raceway was an auto racing track in Spring Valley, in the Las Vegas Valley. It featured a flat, 3-mile (4.8 km), 13-turn road course, and a quarter-mile drag strip. It was built in 1965 by the Stardust Hotel and Casino to attract high rollers to the hotel.  In 1966 it began hosting the season finale of the Can-Am championship. In 1968 the USAC Championship Car series held a race at Stardust. The hotel was sold in 1969, and the new owners largely abandoned the track. Real estate developers Pardee Homes bought the land and built the Spring Valley community on it.

We will use the 60fpsV2newmod for the whole of the mini-series.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under INT rules. A maximum of two resets are allowed, followed by a compulsory stop and go in the pits.

The race will run on one server, UKGPL8. To keep things competitive the “Works” drivers are requested not to use the Eagle or Lotus. Privateers drivers have a free choice of chasis.

Have to miss this race (sadly). Quite a nice track when you get the hang of it, you just need to stay off the polo's and drive nice lines Wink

PS: I remember well Iestyn, tough luck, that promoted me to second tho angel

Sorry about the rear end tap Iestyn.  I haven't got used to right foot braking and clutch with my G25 yet.  I'll try my best not to do that in a league race!!!

Hehe no worries Phil, I could see you were braking long under pressure, it's a brave thing to do RFB under pressure, never mind clutch as well.

Paul - sorry about rear-ending you on esses exit.. the exact same thing happened in the oAo race, leader and lapper both moved to the inside to pass/give the outside! That promoted me to the lead.. I tried to flip you back over but it didn't work.

A fun race.. low 32 is definitely possible in the BRM! Crashed in the last few laps trying to get one.. Nice dice I had with Ray too Cool

Congrats Frank, Clive!

That was fun. Good race Frank. I tried for about 10 laps looking for a place to pass. Nice job not making any mistakes when I could capitalize on them.

I'd have been hard to beat if I had been able to get good start.

Clive would have been good in a better car.

I missed you Rob. I was a little slow today so I don't know if I'd have been able to challenge you or not. With equal cars it would be impossible.

Nice lap time Iestyn! Frank kept me from winning and kept me from getting fast lap. Smiley

Thanks guys. I appreciate it.

Quite a difficult track - especially the braking point at the end of the long straight - which I don't think I 've got right once.
After a couple of offs I got lapped by most of the field & ended up getting in the way trying to get out of the way - Isteyn I think. Decided it was better to park the car after that.
Should make for a good league race if I can keep the car on the grey bit.

To day i think to have found a possible error in my GEM.There was selected the GPLH67 mod(Historic)instead of the "regular"67.Could be one possibility for the problem to join the race?
Too much version of the mod can create problems if i'm not careful

Yes, this can be possible if you have a special season.ini for this carset.
IGOR will show the track not installed then.
But  "not qualyfied" allways says wrong 60fps patch...

Thanks for putting this race on.

I trundled round in qual using a modified ring setup, which was actually pretty good.  My time was nothing special but I was pretty sure I could improve quite a bit.  After making some tweaks I went back out with about 2 mins qual remaining to see if the changes worked, then I got screen freeze and had to log off.  I rejoined using a different player name, but had no setup.  I modified the default setup with most of the parameters but forgot the brake balance.  I started way back from the pit lane then locked the fronts into every corner...but the car was stable on corner exit at least.  I decided to stop a few laps in...after being lapped!!!  I then checked and found I had 60% front brake balance.  Struggle to understand why the default setting is so far off.

Cheers,

Bob
