Hi folks,

I've been considering joining you guys in Assetto Corsa for a while, but my PC's getting on a bit and I've heard that my graphics card only just meets the minimum requirements.
The rest of my rig is reasonable, but not exactly cutting edge: i5-2500k at stock speed, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB GTX460, SSD for the OS and some games, 1TB HDD for the rest. From what I've read if there's a problem, it'll be with the card, and unfortunately I'm not in a position to be able to upgrade it at the moment.

So the big question: has/is anyone here running AC with an nVidia GTX460, and how was/is the performance? Would you say it's usable?

So do you have AC and are just considering online? With all games you need to adjust the settings so its playable. frame rates arnt great sometimes but its still playable.

Thanks Chris. Smiley

Spanner: I haven't got AC yet, I wanted to see if it would be playable before I parted with the cash, since it's just scraping the minimum requirements and it's been a while since I've played anything that has. Hopefully I'll be able to get up to speed with it before the full seasons start, it'd be nice to get Team Prodigy back on the grid en masse. Grin

Tibs, I only had a 460 for AC to start with and it ran fine, even with 10-15 cars on track. However the sim has been updated many times since then. You might struggle with a decent grid in multiplayer I expect. The updates may even have improved fps for slower cards, not sure.

Single of triple screens?

If you do consider a new card, you should only contemplate only Nvidia. AMD sucks for AC. You get what you pay for.

Single screen, running at 1680x1050.

I was keen on ATI cards before the merger, but I haven't seen them release anything that matches nVidia since. Undecided

I would think you are going to struggle a bit with the 460 even at that resolution, but give it a go I guess. The GTX 970 is probably where you should go for single screen as that should absolutely fly with maximum detail at 1680x1050. TBH the 970 is probably overkill for that resolution, but hey ho.

If you want an Sapphire ATI 7970 3Gb Ghz Edition I might be willing to sell mine so I can get an Nvidia GTX 980 or 970 as I run triples at 5780x1080 and could do with more horse power. Grin

Your graphics card is not good enough for AC. :-)

i5 2500k OC is fine CPU imho.

Yeah thought so, any recommendations?

Does it still have to be AMD to use eyeinfinity, which I still have same adapter for?

The most expensive Nvidia your budget will allow. AMD have fallen behind a lot in terms of REAL WORLD performance as in actual game frame rates and not pointless benchmarking scores.

GeForce GTX 970 is the best bang for buck at the moment imho. 980 if your budget will allow, but that is a lot more than a 970. 970 x2 (in SLI) might be worth considering should AC and the rest of them ever support it properly!

My GTX680 feels like its struggling a bit with triples (3x1920x1200) in AC. Though being that i run with out any PP and 2x AA and AF i'm sure theres still plenty of scope for them to optimize things.
