Been in contact with Tony regarding possibility of using on GTL race nights – either we have fast typers or they’re using TeamSpeak. (I’ve only used it to talk in the AC lobby with Picnic and Spanner – had problems with AC and have not been able to use TeamSpeak online.)  Tony’ experience with it has not been good.

Regarding use in racing Picnic raised a number of points:-

- Sound levels, can you hear someone speaking over the engine/game sounds?
- Use of a PTT (Push to Talk) button, if people use voice activation you often end up opening the mic when swearing as you fall off, clear your thought etc. It's also possible that the game volume triggers the voice activation, always best to use a specific button. This is easy to map to a button on your wheel so no real excuses.
- Distraction - some people don't like to race with it because it can cause interruptions to your train of thought. If you watch F1 I'm sure you'll have heard F1 drivers telling the pit crews not to talk in braking zones etc.

Anybody used TeamSpeak and have an opinion on its usefulness?
Is it worth giving it a try?

With teamspeak you can set buttons to mute microphone and speakers.
Set a rule that there is no speaking/chatting during quali and race.
Otherwise it's very useful to help people out, speak to the ones you race with, chat about ordinary things.

Bill, the other GTL drivers may have missed these post's. Suggest you post in a race thread?
