Not really done much with this uptil now as the whole experience has really not been a good one sometimes. things do seem to be improving slowly. I've only recently been trying out offline races which has been a revelation now i've got it running smoothly enough to actually drive the thing. I wish i had actually contributed into this if i'd had the time. But am looking forward to this finally being released. Forums arnt brilliant in finding stuff when must threads seems ot be hundreds of pages long! Not really sure whats going on in pCARS land.

Not been on here for ages...or Project Cars for that matter.
Does anyone know if the car setups will allow single track, multiple single vehicle setup ala GPL.
It seems to be getting awful close to launch and all I can do is save a setup to a car or track and not multiples. Ie Setup vers 1,2,3 etc

There hasn't been any P Cars action here, would need someone to volunteer to organise races etc. Seems AC has the most new momentum around here. Is there a dedicated server for it or is the multi-player only hosted within the normal game? In the later case I guess the league would probably need to buy a copy

If this thread is the sole efforts to champion Project CARS here, then it's not looking like there's much interest from somebody to step up & run it or anybody to turn up & race (based on 4 comments in 4 months)

Thing is its been in closed beta period for a long time now, though it is finally being released in 3 weeks which is why we haven't run any races! I don't know who here has bought into it, i have and really like it and hope people will take it up. I'd be more than willing. Its been a shame its been such a closed-book, with no real build up or PR from the sim community. http://www.virtualr.net/project-cars-release-date-confirmed

AC hasn't exactly taken off yet and it still has its problems. If PCars is good and viable it should have its chance imho.

Sounds reasonable GT, just need a few more people showing their interest/commitment

Well I'd be in. And I'm sure Tinman would as well as we have both been involved virtually from Day 1.
So we'd better get a move on. Me and the Tinman aren't getting any younger. Mrs Oilseal is predicting the day when I can't get in and out of the racing seat. Have to admit its not getting easier.
I thought when I retired I would have loads of time for these sims. But the longer I'm retired the thought keeps running thro my head" How did I find time to go to work"
The downside of the release is that I'll be on holiday when it comes out....Bummer
Looking forward to online racing again as nothing has tickled my fancy in the last 2-3 years

I'd be in too for sure, like pCARS a lot.
It does have some annoying features - the UI is a horrible mess in places, and not being able to drive your own car out of the pitlane is just.. rubbish (but hopefully fixed in future). The default setups are also very safe (ie dull) in many cars, although mostly tweakable to whatever you want. And putting a wheel on the grass is not an instant spin as it would sometimes be in other sims. This generally gives the feeling that pCARS is a bit easier than other driving games, and in some ways is all the better for it, although maybe they've gone a bit too safe in places. It does mean though that you tend to get more cars making it to the finish, and I've had some very nice multiplayer races. And of course it has the nicely implemented weather, day/night transition and pitstops (auto controlled only), and yes at least on pc there will be dedicated servers. Shame that driver swaps and customisable names and numbers on the cars did not make the cut though.
Track and car list is also very nice, and with a lot of interesting additions still in the pipeline. Looking forward to the full release.

The game has got a lot better from a driver point of view. It's more on rails than the other games and the force feedback isn't anywhere near as good as AC, but generally it's reasonable and not like a Codemasters game. For me there is still one thing missing and that is triple screen rendering. It can do 3 monitors, but it's stretched (single screen rendering) so that could be improved and is on their list to do at some point. The driving model has gotten a lot better and what Frex said is spot on.
I haven't played it in a month or and I want to give it another go ASAP to see how it's moved on since then.
I don't realistically think we could organise anything with pCars until it is released (which is now very soon May 8th approximately I think). Amazon are doing it on pre-order for £25 so maybe soon someone could organise a fun race if there is the interest after release.

Played the game again last night to see what the latest build was like and I think the driving model is now essentially finished cause it doesn't feel any different. Basically it feels a bit canned in terms of slides and spins, there's very little progression in the grip level imho and most of the time you can use a digital throttle position when accelerating out of corners.
The graphics are pretty good and the presentation is very professional in most parts. Audio is also excellent.
But ultimately I just can't see myself picking this game over AC or iRacing unless I was just wanting to do single player career stuff and I didn't care that the car just doesn't feel alive like it does in AC or iRacing.

Just tried a couple of races in the Lotus 49, Monza and Watkins (sadly both the modern versions) and the AI are quick but all over the shop. Proper wacky races Must say though the game looks truly gorgeous on my 4K monitor

Looks very arcadey in the few YouTube vids I've seen. the cars didn't appear to have realistic movements but not read any reviews on it yet.

AI are never going to replicate real people. Ive had some interesting races but your'll always know its not real. I gree it does look good. Though at the moment Pcars seems ot be playing up for me, Doesnt seem to want to use the mouse in game.
