I was enjoying that, in close proximity to Legzy and Evil for the first half of the race, until my screen froze exiting Loews. A few seconds later it came back and I was nose first into the wall with broken suspension. I had also lost 5 places - hope everyone got past my car ok.

That put me near the back of the field but I hobbled on, only to get another brief freeze a few laps after. When it happened a third time with John coming up behind me it was clearly too dangerous for me to carry on, so I quit to the pits.

On quitting the game there was a pop-up notification on screen informing me of driver updates, so i'm guessing that is what was triggering the loss of focus from the game. I've turned off that pop-up notification, so hopefully it won't be happening again.

Congrats podium.

Qualified a decent 4th so hoped for a great fight up front.

What a let down for me that turned out to be, once again my race ruined by the ffb disappearing on the grid for race start when it's too late for me to get at the controls menu  :'(
Didn't know it had happened until turn 1, hence me clipping Geoffers ahead. Think he would have caught it except I got rear ended back into him forcing a full spin and pile up by the impatient lot behind me  Roll Eyes
I lost about 5 places and nearly quit as couldn't see me being Able to keep it out of the barriers with no ffb, but I stuck with it.
As it turned out I then got stuck behind Matts red bus 914 for 7 laps and nearly had 50 accidents trying to avoid his rear end when he kept braking like a granny  Grin
On lap 7 there was a sudden load of lagging going on and I was sandwiched between Matt and Simon so I did a Rosberg and pulled over on the way down to casino as thought I'd have to quit. But the lagging disappeared instantly  Huh
So then had to recatch the pack behind Geoffers and Fed. The 3 of us then systematically turned our 914s into 50 pence pieces bouncing off barriers  Embarrassed each in turn.
Later found myself behind Simon for 6th and harassed him for several laps before he seemed to get on the marbles and Armco in the tunnel and I was through  Smiley
Finished 6th amazingly considering I nearly quit twice through hardware woes. Shocked my laptimes were 4 secs a lap slower than qually without the ffb..woeful  Sad

Talk about lucky!!! Roll Eyes

Fluked a one run qually lap and with a 1:47 got myself mid pack, which was better than expected. race plan was to keep it clean and hope to pick up places as Monaco always appears to be a place of attrition ( at least it is in GPL).

I got caught by a slow staring car in front of me off the grid..maybe that was Frederico having probs?? Almost rear ended him and jinked sideways  the got swamped by the horde of Porkers screaming up the inside. I had no option but to stick my car right around the outside line at St Devote and just as I was about to nail the gas someone decided to throw a road block across the inside 2/3rds of the track.
It seems that the only gap through the melee was at the end of my bonnet  Grin, so I closed my eyes and went for it, and the car shot through like a wet bar of soap.

I did not dare look at how many places I had gained until I was going through the tunnel with Snr Dan in close attendance............3rd place!!!!! around Monaco.    shifty  woohoo. I immediately revised my race plan and employed the Hiki Waza tactics book of cunning ploys.
#27b around Monaco if you have the lead just make sure you keep it clean and smooth and above all, get off the corners fast even if you are slow in.

The rest of the race was an exercise in frustrating anyone faster than me who wanted to progress. I had 3rd step on the rostrum and I was determined not to give it up easily. Snr Dan was trying to find a way past my new wide bodied Porsche with flared wheel arches and large wing mirrors and he was definitely faster at some points...but nowhere that he could make a pass  Wink.
I thought that Dan had also read my Waza training book when he nudged me into a spin  lol. But I avoided stalling the engine ( which is what usually happens!) and nailed the gas to spin the car around and face the right way, Dan was gentleman enough to allow me to keep my precious 3rd spot. I think he made an error a lap or so later because he suddenly dropped away, to be repleced by a hard charging Legzy.
Legzy was quite plainly much faster than I was with a clear track, but I had to drive a very defensive race and go just fast enough to prevent him getting a chance to pass. Like he said there were one or two times when he almost got into position but I managed to cling on.
There was zero chance of me catching either John or Clive, but as the race progressed I felt more confident of holding 3rd. Especially when Legzy opted to test the armco and give me a few laps rest on at least 3 occasions. The last few laps were just a case of keeping my concentration and getting the car to the flag.

Like I said at the start "lucky", but after the luck I had to work for the silverware and at any other track would probably have been passed by about 6 cars!!  lol

Race to forget for me, only good thing was I got to the finish, quite a feat for me at Monaco.

Have to apologise to Simon, I think it was me that put you out of the race. You seemed to have pulled over through the tunnel only to come back onto the racing line leaving me nowhere to go. I braked but still ran into your car. I waited, only to let Matt past just as you quit.

Congrats to the massed ranks of the Soggies, superb performance.  I Am Not Worthy

Cheers Geoffers, I'm beginning to like 2015!   Grin

Looking at John's last two laps, I wonder how much fuel he had in at the finish?  Or perhaps he just backed off to avoid lapping people.   Roll Eyes

I let John have his first place spot back as we went up the hill, I could probably have bottled him up for a while bt that wouldn't have done the Soggy cause any good and had the potential to do it a great deal of harm.

Thanks Grin One of these days I'll master the art of getting a good start...

Yes, as Geoff said - I'd backed off as it looked like him and Matt were having fun. I wanted to stay near enough to watch but I got too close and Geoff, being the gentleman he is, pulled to the side to let me through.

Results and Replay Posted

That was fun. I am not sure why I was so slow compared to others, maybe my setup was too cautious but I was in danger
of swapping ends with any more front grip... I would like to try someone elses setup, maybe I am just carp at rear engines  whistling
After people had some "accidents" I ended up in 5th place with a train behind headed by Simon, who was faster, but not enough
to make an easy pass. Eventually I couldn't stand the hateful stares from MJ so moved over to let Simon and the others past angel
Then there were some more accidents and I gained a couple of places to the finish. I almost slowed to let Geoffers through again
but hey, one lot of martyrdom is enough for one day.

Mark,
Pressing Alt F buttons at the same time should reset the FF even while on the grid. The hard part is remembering the key combo when the FF stops.

I should think that finding a spare hand to press the keys whilst wrestling with the thing would be a trick too!
