These should be fun around here. Not raced Monaco in ages, used to be a regular sim event in one incarnation or another. Always a challenge When do people generally jump online for a bit of practise? Would rather try and be there same time than hotlapping on my own with no idea what's competitive or not.

Hi Mark, I usually start my practice on the Friday and will try out the server then, if it is running. No particular time though. Just depends when I'm free. May also do Saturday evening but that depends on a lot of ifs ands and buts. Sunday and Monday the server is used for GTR2 and GTL. I often found Federico on the server on Tuesday nights and that would be a good indicator of how much faster I needed to go! Sometimes the server is there on Wednesdays and sometimes it isn't. Not sure which version is the '79 one but should be good! Ideal for a spec race.

Indeed, it would be nice to do practice online with some fellow racers. I found it enjoyable (in my LFS time) to be talking cars and setups, chasing eachother around the track and being able to getting driving tips from one another too.
I found that lately the other servers are still up after i finished a GTL or a P&G race so that creates more possibility's to meet online. I don't get much more spare time for practice so it is mainly Monday's and Thursday's for me. Sunday evenings might be a good evening for practice for me though..

So a joint practice could be on Friday, Saturday, Monday or Tuesday and Wednesday if the server is up. Maybe we should pick one day and name it the unofficial practice day? My vote would go for Tuesday around 9 PM UK time. Stig

Hmm a random variety of times then like my own practise sessions Are you guys on Steam? Just wondering if that would be useful to notify when one of us are jumping online/firing up Gtr2. Know it works for AC but as we didn't buy Gtr2 through it, may not work. The Steam messenger works well too for notifying each other. All you need to do is add each other as friends in steam, then it will tell you when that persons online or you can send them a message, even if they have another game/prog open. Maybe some other in obtrusive live messenger/notifier could work. Still can't believe we can't hook up a live timing app to the server that could post up/ record lap times set after all these years. Other sites seem to use them. Just think more interaction like this would rekindle the sim racing community rather than a handful of individuals.

Ps I often do my practise during episodes of Eastenders whilst the missus is distracted or on a Sunday whilst she's inundated with marking!

First quick run around the place resulted in a 1:51.4 with the car full of fuel. I guess that will be about 5 seconds shy of what's required

You must have gone straight from Zolder on the same session!

Ahhh, that's because Tony is more thorough than I am, and had limited the cars, whereas I just allow all cars for events, and let people take the correct ones. Restarted now with all cars.

I'll see your 1:51 and raise (ie lower) you 4 seconds. Thanks Matt

Well I was doing 1:49s in the couple of laps I did to set the race length, so Simon will be faster than that.
