Upper Sprint - Race 3

All members welcome

Practice:  20:00 GMT (20 mins)
Qual 2:    20:20 GMT (10 mins)
Race:      20:30 GMT (18 laps ~ approx 40 mins)

Cars allowed: Any GT500 from the SuperGT Mod. Available here or here
Track:: Spa 2004
Race Start Time: 14:00

Weather: Dry

Tyre wear: x2
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit Stops: You must make a minimum of one pit stop during which you must take on at least 1 litre of fuel and/or change at least two tyres. You cannot take a mandatory stop at the end of the pace lap, or with less than 1 lap to go.

Notes:
(1) Please make sure you are fully aware of the UKGTR Rules - especially the speed limiter starting procedure and the rules about in-game chat messages.
(2) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(3) You will not be able to join the server without the car physics pack and track (see links above).
(4) Drivers may only change car once in the season without penalty.
(5) Drivers are reminded that they must select ISDN as their bandwidth, otherwise the stability of everyone's connection will be reduced.
(6) Please use the Driver Details page to ensure that the league management software has your correct GTR2 'Driving Name' (not necessarily the same as your lobby name).
(7) The server will be set to 26 slots, not 28.

I can just hear the crowd now, "boo, hiss" as race by race I'm stealing the wins from the obvious thoroughbred driver on the grid, Apex Embarrassed

Tonight Apex was once again too good for me & I decided on lap 9 to switch to a 'splash & dash' plan, as there was no way on earth I could beat Apex @Spa on a like for like strategy.
The car was so wobbly & slidy is some of the late laps i thought i must have blown it, but I came out of the pits with one lap to defend a 3.5 sec gap Shocked Cool
Couple of corners later it was down to 2 secs, coming into the bus stop it was just 1 sec  surrender
But Apex must have been distracted by how slow I was through there(?) & I managed to get round to the flag still in front sweatdrop

Shocked it came off for me, I guess you must have had some troubles passing drivers after you'd pitted maybe?

Cheers all, was very entertaining race right from the start, with Spanner, then NSFast & SRW all keeping me on my toes as Apex drove off early on thumbup1

Grats to you Legzy well played........ I am still scratching my head........ my driving performance was great, but never thought about traffic playing a role in my equation..............  great stuff by Srw........ nice it was difficult to pass him......... so I lost a bit of time there as he was quick and racy himself nice racecraft !!!  Grats for the Podium spot Srw

thanks, it was good to get a podium on merit rather than people in front dropping out!

I don't know why I was closer to the pace, I didn't do any more practice than usual (usually about 1 hour during the week). it might have been due to car setup, as I don't have much time to practice I usually stick with the default setup and just tweak the rear wing and gear ratio's. so if the default setup is ok I am in with a bit of a chance.

All I changed was gears and wings but never having driven this car before tonight I had no strategy. Guessed at fuel and changed tyres at the pitstop, lost 20+ secs to everyone doing this Sad Awesome strategy by Legzy proves having some sort of idea of tyre life etc is quite handy Wink
