Just to confirm which cars we can use Matt.

Group A: BMW CSL all including the IMSA

Group B: BMW CSL 3.3 12v, there isn't a 24v 3.3.

Chortle, yes, winning smarts here  Evil
I found the 3.3 12v to be more nimble round here, though both the 12v cars are
for me at least a couple of seconds slower than the 24 volt ones.

Ah yes , the tyres. The 3.3 12v front left gets hot enough to fry bacon, but lasts better than it looks

Charade is a wonderful track, but I I sure don't like the Beamer.

If I use soft tyres, it has good grip, but gets hopeless to handle for me, once the tires are half worn.

I need to use hard tires, but then the car has very poor grip, and I tend to leave the tarmic on a more regular basis :- ))

My best laptime on the Hard Tires and race fuel is 2.03.xxx, bit I will be very happy just to finish this one.

Worry not Stig, in the 12 volt machine I have only seen one 2:03 and that was on soft tyres!

I shall just go for a stooge and hope everybody else hits the scenery a lot!

Apologies to Provocateur and a few other drivers for my bad driving in the opening lap.Should have practised on meds and blown the red mist away before dashing off the line! This more or less sums up my evening at Charade. Ok qually and awfully bad race until fatal(for the engine that is) crash. No one to blame but me. Sorry team.
Hope everybody else had a great time.

Cheers, Dan

tough cars on that track, yet I had an easy test session, but I think the Schnizer was
more powerful than my test car, it sure was a handful  Shocked

Really didn't like that combo at all. The beemers had shocking handling on that track and what's with the over cooking front left brake that pitches the car into a slide it spin under heavy braking?! Tried to dial it out but found the raconv painful. After getting pitched off for no apparent reason once again, I parked up and quit in disgust. Sad

These cars are better on tracks they can stretch their legs on. Dijon prenois would have been much better. A great track we've forgotten to use.

Let's face it I thought that I was always going to struggle here, with a "B" grade car and lack of experience with these Beemers.
I have to agree with some of the other comments here that I find the handling "different", maybe if I had a few hundred hours to practice I might get my head around it. Roll Eyes

I used a Soggies setup and tweaked it a little, mostly in the brake balance to move it back and allow the front to turn in earlier. This also seemed to help keep the front tyres out of the infra red spectrum.
A quick practice session proved that the softs would probably not last the race so I stuck mediums all round and they were still 75% intact at the end of the race, so maybe the softs might have survived?? who knows.

A gentle nudge on Lap 1 left me at the rear of the field and playing catch up in an underpowered car...not good  Undecided.
But slowly I reeled in a few targets ahead and Matt (phspok) appeared from somewhere behind to hassle me. Eventually he got past and I tried to stay with him as we closed on Doni and Mark ahead.
at half distance a sudden epidemic of Hari Kari erupted and cars seemed to be throwing themselves off the track ahead of me. Doni, Mark, Legzy, Senior Dan, and Matt and then Postal all dropped off the charts. A couple of them rejoined behind for a few laps and then quit, except Matt who insisted on being a nuisance and hunted me down again.
Despite defending as fairly as I could, the extra strain on my tyres was getting them very hot and eventually i got a tank slapper out of the final corner just as Matt drew alongside. There was contact and I only just held it together as Matt went ahead. Then guilt got the better of him and he relinquished the place ( although he did not need to IMHO), not only that but he dropped back by about 7 seconds as well!! Then i relised it was just a ploy to demonstrate his superior speed and ability, because he rapidly closed the gap in the final few laps to sweep past!!. I made the last lap a banzai effort to keep the pressure on hoping for another mistake from Matt, but he didn't oblige and I discovered the limit of temperature and grip on the medium tyres as I spun on the penultimate corner.
