Moderator's Report

No incident during red zone, 2 reported incidents and 1 shift-R correctly followed by stop and go.

Nice win for Walter.

Server replay time: 0h38m18s

Billy went wide at virage de la Gare (not yet Loews), so Rog tried a legitmate overtake, he had more than 50% overtook when Billy touched Rog's right rear wheel wih his left front wheel, and Rog spun.

It was Billy's fault but he had no other place to go.
Rog asked for no penalty.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 0h49m17s

Quit the same incident ...with Billy playing Rog and Bernie playing Billy :
Bernie went wide at virage de la Gare, so Billy tried a legitimate overtake, both cars where side by side and there was contact.

In this case, Bernie spun and Billy wait for him.
Bernie asked for no penalty (...Bill asked for nothing, probably because he thought he was responsible, but it's not evident at all)

  • Racing incident

Season 28 Amateurs Trophy - Round 2 – Monaco

To mark the 50th anniversary of the 1965 Formula 1 season we will run the 10 original championship races and for round 2 we visit Monaco. Circuit de Monaco is a street circuit laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine around the harbour of the principality of Monaco. It is commonly referred to as "Monte Carlo" because it is largely inside the Monte Carlo neighbourhood of Monaco. A very challenging tight twisty circuit, few opportunities for passing but plenty of chances to hit the scenery. You’ve heard this before but please take care, especially on Lap 1!

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.
Race List = IGOR

Well, at 9.20pm my G27 was still not reassembled. 9.25 it was! Calibration problems solved (possibly temporarily). No time to calibrate or to set GPL so that it wasn't running windowed...

First few laps were OK but Monaco demands precision and I had no confidence in my setup. The fifth spin I decided I was a danger to shipping so I bailed out. Good to be back.

Congrats Walter;  clearly keeping it cool throughout!

I'm usually way off the pace in qually, so somewhat surprised to be up with a good view from the start.  I just seemed to be able to not bump the sides;  that does seem to make a difference here.

Lots of tiptoe-ing around from the start of the race & guess it was probably getting rather interesting just behind.

Most of the race, I could hear some Honda buzzing away;  getting louder & louder...
Had a couple of spins/crashes & it was right there.   Then a bit of a misunderstanding at the hairpin & Walter was off.
Only saw him again after I guess he changed to a cleaner car for the finish-line.

Congrats fella!

Looks as though Rog got the highest climber award.

EDIT:  1:27.6 in pros!

Cheers all,
Dave.

Not a track That I am particularly fond of.
Start was good - up to P2 for a bit until the computer updated killed the sound & I had a bit of spin trying to click the mouse.
What followed was some very close racing with Fabio, Rog & Bernie. All got a little too close with a couple of contacts at the Virage de Gare hairpin. No Complaints on my behalf but I will report them. Apologies to Bernie who had 3rd spot before our contact. I paused so he could keep his place but he lost the car shortly after on the run down to Tabac.

No worries here Billy , bit of nip & tuck as far as i could see , Monaco not the easiest place in the world to overtake unless the guy in front screws up somehow , I ran wide , you went for the inside  , gravity took over ! though I did hope you might do a "schumaker" and block the track off from the following hordes until i made my get away .

Spent most of the race fending off Rog who could close up in the twissy bits,   but I always had the edge on the straights ( cos I'm very good at straights ) but when Billy came along things changed as he had the same number of horses but think they were better fed than mine   , My concentration  was already drained from the fight with Rog and had started making driving errors , so it was only a matter of time before something bad happened .
Can't complain as I inherited P3 from others misfortune more than my own driving skill . Had an earlier coming together with  Fester? ,  I think Mr Warp may have intervened on that one so will let the mods decide the outcome .

Great racing and much enjoyed the fun , saving up now for a new set of Dunlops for Soggies65  next outing  Wink

I thought I was cutting it fine but not compared to Paul. My new wheel arrived yesterday and I got it working in time to do about 40 laps practice. At East London I was pleasantly surprised to find I could run 0.5s/lap faster than last time out. I think that was a flash in the pan. Here I was almost 2s/lap slower than before. I went into the race intending to drive to survive. I didn't expect to be racing anyone.

I went up the hill on lap 1 in 7th and rose to 4th due the misfortunes of others until I had an altercation with Bernie. Going into St Devote side by side was always going end in tears and in this instance they were entirely mine. While Bernie motored on unscathed I span into the barrier and had to sit there while the entire field went by. It was only five cars but it seemed like twice as many at the time. I was at the back for most of the race but it was far from boring. I chased Philippe for a few laps and then span as soon as I caught him. When I caught him again he had Kai for company but I lost touch with them making it easy for Dave and Walter to lap me. I wasn't so good at letting them re-lap me though. Old and confused is my only excuse. I was rather tardy letting Walter by and when I did came soooo close to taking out Dave.

Congratulations Walter, Dave and Rog( a podium from the back of the grid ).

If you're interested this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKb9FixAFjw is coverage of the 1965 Monaco Grand Prix. 37 minutes in is one minute before the start. I think the whole start procedure is hilarious. Younger people would probably be appalled by it. The starter was at more risk then than the drivers are today.

Good race for me, spent most of race trying to hang on to the back of Bernies car, then Billy appeared  for a 3 car chase and a couple of passes, got 4th when Bernie and Billy stopped for a chat going down to Portier, then 3rd when Bernie opted for the wall coming out of the Chicane.

Grats to Walter on win
Grats to Dave C on 2nd place

Thanks for the congratulations, I had more than my share of good luck in this race. I slipped back to 5th at the start, but quickly improved my position when other drivers had bad luck. Before long, I was in 2nd place behind Dave C. I spent a long time chasing, and not making up much ground. Somehow the gap to DC closed rather quickly, and I was on his bumper while he was approaching a lapped car. Dave was detained in the Gas Works hairpin, giving me room to take the lead. In the last few laps, I bounced off the wall at Mirabeau while under pressure. I was relieved that the car didn't sustain any noticeable damage. I also held my breath when my screen flickered once, but luckily no screen freeze this time.

Good race all, especially Dave for setting fast lap for the first two races, and to Rog for being the highest climber!

Thanks , enjoyed watching , worth viewing just for the drivers briefing and Toto Roche's antics at the start !
