Season 28 Historics Trophy - Round 2 - Monsanto Park

The second race in the Historic series finds us in Portugal. The street circuit of Monsanto Park to be precise. Built on parkland, the circuit was considered difficult to drive because it crossed so many different types of surfaces, including tramlines at one point. The track hosted numerous races from 1954 to 1959, but only one race qualified as a Formula One event: the 1959 Portuguese Grand Prix, won by Stirling Moss. He won the race in the twilight hours, since the race was purposefully started late in the day to avoid the intense late summer sun.

This race is for 2 LITRE cars. There is no handicapping

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP address = 37.157.48.87
Race date = 31-03-2015
Race Time = race starts at 21:30 UK time (21:30 GMT)
Qualifying Time = Between 30 and 60 minutes, starting no later than 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Monsanto
Variant = 66F1
Damage Model = Pro
Race length = 20 Laps (50 minutes)
Password: see above

Replays Available here

Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated from the start to the exit of Clover Leaf and the straight immediately following on Lap 1. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

Couldn't avoid the carnage on the exit of T2 and ended up on the wrong side of an invisible barrier.  Couldn't get back onto the track.  Drove the whole length of the straight in the trees but not luck Angry

...the carnage on the exit of T2...

Thus we see the danger of NOT MAINTAINING YOUR LINE WHEN YOU'RE UNSURE OF WHAT'S AROUND YOU.

F10 view is there for a reason, folks.

And the guilty (IMO) party continues, while three others have an early exit. Sorry to see you and Bernie suffer, too.

I had to retire early.  Embarrassed A few cars had an incident on the long straight. I slowed down more than normal because the track was blocked on the left and the right. I looked in the rear view mirror to see if I was clear to move to the center lane. That is when I saw the car behind me was going much faster. I probably should not have slowed down so much. No worries. See you all next race.  Smiley

Something went as I started lap 5 or 6, and I watched myself fall to P8, where I will finish - of 16 starters, 9 are out by lap 6..

...actually its more...Greg spent the last couple of laps trying to extract himself from a hay bale...don't fancy your chances, but good luck....

A screen freeze here with three laps to go in P3.  Sad

I invoked task manager...instead of just re-setting the computer...to shut down GEM/Papyrus.  I went back into iGOR to find two laps to run and only Iestyn on the server.  Huh  Was everyone canned at that moment?

This track is really difficult.
My plan was to try & make half distance & score some points - but I have never done 10 laps. Agree with Francesco when he says the track is laden with traps.
My best is about 1.57 - but would not last more than 3 laps!
I tried to keep clear of the fast lappers & run my own race, just let the track take out the competition.
Managed 7 laps went into the clover leaf a bit too fast, flipped round & got stuck in the hay bales - game over.
Will boycott this track next time.

Sorry Walter,but only after having seen the replay i have understood what happen.I  was surprised by your decreasing in speed and also for the consequence.
After the rear hit i was on the other side and convinced to have done nothing to you.Also my race was very short,sorry again.
