Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 206s

As the field fly down to the first corner Mark Jonzo gets caught out by the first lap early braking and rear ends Popabawa who ends up in the gravel.
When Mark realised what was happening he correctly tried to veer off to the left and away from the corner apex but unfortunately slid into the back of team-mate Pops.

  • Mark J (Mark Jonzo)penalty — first lap rear end shunt — 3 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 215s

Tyf gets around the outside of Greg130 in T1 but Greg squeezes him out on the exit of the turn, resulting in Tyf having to ease off to avoid going off. The incident is partly caused by the track kinking to the right at that point, and even though Greg didn't actually move to the left, he could have given more space considering that they were alongside at the apex.

  • greg130 (Greg130)penalty — side by side contact — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 677s

Jan Duijs comes from quite far back trying to overtake Greg at the end of the back straight. Jan locks up over the bumps and slides into the left rear of Greg's car, sending him off.

I mean using FIA GT 2003 number board with 2003 font. I can prepare both for easy pasting onto a skin..

The window banner I think ought to be default FIA GT 2003 one tbh and then if you want to have reference to SimRacing.org.uk it will be added somewhere else on car. This too is very easy to do cause it's only matter of select/copy/paste from original GTR .dds file.

The reason for this is purely because I think it's good habbit to get into. When FIA GT cars are made, they too are given certain regulations like this so it seems fitting imo to do the same. Literally like putting your own team into FIA GT and of course you've got the rest of the car to do what you like with, within reason.

I would think if we are going to standardise on a number board and banner (which I'm not keen on cause I don't want to have to redo any of my cars AGAIN! I have 6 now!) then it should reference SimRacing not FIA GT. If this is a car pack for SimRacing then it should not be standard 2003 FIA GT as they are precisely not that.

Have a look at the windscreen banner on the team shark cars, that has a SimRacing banner and the number board is also UKGTR/SimRacing specific...

Although it might be nice, I am not particularly keen of forcing everyone to have a standard banner or number board at this stage as the cars are already done.

Hey, why is the driver stuck in your Lambourghini in your render. You know you can hide everything then unhide individual objects and then edit or even delete them. Like this is how I put some camber and toe on my tyres and deleted driver. Think it's in options when right click..

Yur I agree it's too late..

Well, in the future I would like these things considered i.e GTR2. If we run with GTR2 cars too imo it's better to use their standard regulations. Yes it's SimRacing.org.uk league however I think the default GTR car drivers will feel less intimidated by SimRacing.org.uk cars if there is some common standardization. Something to discuss at a later date for sure..

I completely disagree.

We're NOT entering an FIA GT series. This is a game. There are no regulations unless we impose them and I don't want to see any introduced.

The cars look great at the moment and some will take advantage of the mid-season refresh to make them look even better but I don't like the idea of being forced into updating all 4 of my team cars (to me completely unnecessarily).

I have seen some cars with different window banners, but they definitely use the same number board and number board font. Well, this is something to be done for next time np.

You know this thing could be taken into the logistics of team management i.e funds, awards, sponsoships, costs ect. But this is very complex and not worth it on GTR.  Wink

I didn't really know which style of numbering to use, or were to put them, on my skins. Perhaps some guidelines for next set might be a good idea.

I'm working on a big guide encompassing all guides i've done so watch out for it..

In the mean time here's blank FIA 03 blank number board http://www.auyu41.dsl.pipex.com/FIA%20GT%20Number%20board.pspimage

And here's the font's they use in FIA 03 http://www.auyu41.dsl.pipex.com/Numbers.psd [You'll have to select them, copy and paste]  .. my guides explain how to do this at bottom of this page https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=1103.75

.. regulations are an important part of a society and/or an organisation. They have their purpose and are usually for a very good reason. They provide structure and stability, they promote a caring authoritative atmosophere which harvest's a sense of well being to all members within an organization. There is always the case of there being too much or too little.. too much and you exhaust interested/potential members, too little and you discourage the enthusiast.

Indeed! But only when they are necessary.

Bad law is worse than no law at all.

EDIT: Just to be clear, that's not meant to be as aggressive as it might sound! I actually agree with your post in it's entirety! Smiley

I like those UKGTR number boards on, cough, Sharks car...very cool with the union jack in the logo. Cool

I reckon we should definitely run another sprint series and definitely use the skin pack for it. They look so much better and also agree with everyone else that the racing is that much more tighter now and so deserves another close series.

I would love to see the odd 'new' track thrown into the championship too, maybe added as a special event in the race calendar, like Bahrain in the Porsche Supercup series, as an example, and points scoring for it. There must be a couple of add on tracks that are good enough to use for a multiplayer race. Maybe have a fun race to try one out? as long as we all install the same one (from a link on UKGTR) it should be fine.

Cause I don't really know how to use 3DSMAX and the default scenes were ok for most things so i have not fiddled with them. I don't mind the driver being in there.
I'm planning on doing some NGT group pics and GT group pics when I've finished all the cars I want to do. Now done F360, 996 GT3RS, F360, Morgan, Lister, Lambo, F550. Planning to also do Saleen and Mosler and that should be it.

Well, in the future I would like these things considered i.e GTR2. If we run with GTR2 cars too imo it's better to use their standard regulations.

I'll be VERY suprised if Simbin, Blimey (or whoever they want to be this week) allow addon cars in GTR2, I think the cars will be encrypted again so only skins and non addon cars will be it. Shame. I wish someone would implement skins properly so they can be auto downloaded from the server and stuff.

  Cheesy

I actually did that UKGTR logo with the UK bit with the union jack in it originally for Gizmo to use on the website but another logo was decided upon instead. I have it in decent high res PSD file I believe still.

Auto download is not really a realistic option imo. Fine for Nascar 2003 where skins were only a few K but GTR car's are complex and large.

A two car team without arcade and pro files is about 3mb, it all adds to a mess if you try doing things automatically and on such a large scale imo.

I don't see why Simbin would release templates and not .car files. I know they were leaked from GTL and that situation was a mess but for GTR2 I think it's more settled in terms of the Simbin/Blimey! fiasco. It doesn't make sense releasing templates without .car files!! Why would they want their original GTR cars tampered with? It's an all or nothing situation I bet.

I'm gonner send em an email.
