S28 - Friday Trophy - Round 10 - Sport Cars - Zolder 67

The 10th race of this season will be at Zolder in Belgium.  In the days before Spa became a permanent fixture on the F1 calendar, ten grand prix were run at Zolder. Most famously in 1982 when Gilles Villneuve tragically lost his life during qualifying. The new Zolder 67 version is a great piece of track building by Ginetto.

Remember: for the LIGHT drivers the most popular car will be dropped for the rest of the season! Look at the bottom!

ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.
If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
Please check the Season 28 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR

Training server is up!

PW is 60fpsV1  (without PW guys could join "blind" with 36fps...)

PS

A shame that all competitive faster cars are restricted for the lights :'(

Hmm, GPL 'hanging' after 'channel opened' has now spread to GTs as well as 69x. Zipped up replays to give 300mbs of extra HD space but it still happened. Looking at SRMZ, I couldn't see a fix, but it's definitely something I've seen/fixed before. Once it pauses (after a cursor change to show it's contacted the server), the bottom half of the screen will give the cursor the 'thinking' circle, and pressing the screen causes the CTD/close program message.

True.. it could be time for a Heavy overall race winner? Cool

Edit: Dave, don't worry... I remember seeing them a lot recently as well in a certain track/mod combo. I obviously wasn't going fast enough  Grin

DSL dropped out; it clearly felt sorry for me & decided to end the agony!

Although up until that point;  it was probably the case that Greg was having a worse time of it than me!  At least I was managing to mostly keep it on-track;  although rather slowly Smiley  Still,   gave me something to look at now and again.

Still seemed that the white & yellow flags were constantly out.   I just assumed they were holding the white flag out in readiness for me;  the cheek!

Good luck all;    hopefully more fun by the time the open-wheelers make it out here.

Cheers,
Dave.

One engine is not enough for me to finish the race.Something wrong in my driving style or in the setup. My compliments to W.Conn for the good series of fast laps with the same car.

Sorry to see you guys have bad luck. I saw Dave's car disappear a couple times a lap, but nothing severe. I needed the first half of the race to get up to speed. I finally caught up to Fran. As soon as I did, I made a mistake that dropped me back. Then I was able to catch up again after he had engine trouble. I am sure that we would have had an interesting race had you not had engine trouble.

After that, I mostly kept an eye on prib to see if anyone was going to lap me, or if Greg was going to catch me. I saw that there was a lead change late in the race that gave me just a little cushion from the leaders. It looked like Mark could have lapped me if he wanted. So I am thankful to have finished on the lead lap. Thanks Axel for organizing, hosting, and for the setup.

Welcome back Mark, Congrats on the win! It is good to see you join the fight.

Congrats Mark, Axel, Dean! Nice job guys.

Good to see you again Mark. I think I saw a MJ message that said PO and I started wondering whose initials are MJ. Could it be Mark? I smiled when I noticed your name on my track position board soon after. Smiley

It's a shame Iestyn missed the race. Sad

I was glad to be back on a track like Zolder and I enjoyed driving the Porsche and Ferrari. But that race was horrible for me. Within 50m of just about any car I'd get terrible stuttering. I saw 45fps often.  After several laps it was having a terrible effect on my eyesight. I almost quit around lap 10 but after a few laps by myself with a steady 60fps my eyesight returned to normal.

I don't know if stuttering contributed to my T1 spin or not. I braked a little too early and once I got on the curb I couldn't control the car. The next several laps were lots of spins, usually when I got close to another car. I think I would get a stutter just before my braking point to T1. That caused me all sorts of trouble. After several spins there, I got stuck on the banking and had to reset. That and the S&G ruined my chances of staying on the lead lap.

Sorry about cutting you off Mark when you and Axel were lapping Fran. I didn't realize you were that close. I'm glad I didn't wreck you.

Here's a picture of the graphs from HWiNFO64 when running Spa67 with a full field of 67 F1 AI at 60fps. As I've always seen before, the cpu frequency and voltage stay steady at their maximum settings. The GPU's core clock fluctuating between 300mHz and 900mHz could be the problem? The cpu seems to be performing well.

I turned off the internet meter, all of pribluda except the track position board, anti-aliasing set to 2X, A. Filtering=2 (1 level), in GPL, unchecked dynamic lighting, specular highlights, only car and track textures in the mirrors, clouds and crowds unchecked in cockpit, but my detail bias may have been set above 70+% so it may have been possible to lower it a tier. These settings seem to work most of the time at 60fps but the GTs have always been most demanding for me.

AMD Phenom II X2 560 clocked at 3.6 GHz, 2X2GB DDR2-800, ATI/AMD Radeon HD7850 2GB GDDR5 256-bit.

Thanks guys.

Yeah glad to have Mark back!
I made some mistakes cutting the curbs...

@Greg

your PhenomII Vcore seems too high... I have 1.3V @ 3800 @ X3

My GPU settings of the HD6870 I use with my Phenom.
I use high settings to get the GPU run in 3D mode!
The CCC 14.4 is still the best.
For GPL I set a CCC hotkey to get these settings.

PS

just made a test

got solid 60fps at Spa67 with 19 AI starting at the back, had to set the CPU to full speed!

Get phenomMSRtweaker!

That was great fun.  I wanted to see how much rust I had to knock off looking ahead to Le Mans Smiley   I couldn't get the qualifying runs to work correctly but the car was much better with the race setup.  Shame about Greg but I had a good fight with Axel, I think he was quicker in the first half of the lap and I was quicker in the second half.  Then he banged the last curb and I took the lead, but then threw it away a few laps later when I missed the braking point for turn 1.  Anyway I could close back in on Axel in the last laps and after he had a moment in the last chicane again I was able to get alongside and get the lead back into turn 1.  Terrific stuff.
