Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Axel "Cookie" takes his second win of the season in the Honda, in front of Polesitter and Championship leader Dave Rainier, who also set the fastest lap in his Ferrari. Axel passed David on the backstraight on Lap 1, and led all laps, despite some mistakes. It was a close race, and despite David was slightly faster, Axel was slightly more consistent. Dave Curtis takes the final podium spot in the Brabham, taking advantage from a mistake by George Cheeseman about 10 laps from the finish.

The Red Zone was "clean". There was some slight contact from Dave R. who braked late and nudged Axel at Double Drat, but no harm no foul. Francesco also braked very late and slightly nudged Dave R. in the aftermath, and spun, but also no harm no foul. However it's better to brake a bit earlier, than too late.

Pit Stops after resets were performed correctly.

Server replay time: 0h09m47s

Francesco reported Fabio spun (in Courbe Armand Brouzes) and he couldn't avoid him. Fabio bounced back on the racing line and Francesco saw it late and can't be blamed for hitting Fabio, he was a victim. You can see Fran trying to avoid slowing and steering away, but he has simply no chance. Fabio retires and Fran continues despite a barrel roll.

Server replay time: 0h09m53s

After the incident above Francesco rejoins the track when Billy was arriving. Billy did a great job avoiding Francesco on the inside there.

We need to make sure not to rejoin on the racing line when others are close or arriving. Francesco should either have been aware of Billy, or rejoin more cautious until he would be back on racing speed. If not for the heads up and good reaction by Bill, this could have been an incident.

Season 28 Privateers Trophy - Round 4 - Albi

For this round we go to France, to be exact to the small town of Albi in the Midi-Pyrénées region.  Racing first started on the Circuit des Planques in 1933, the pits and startline being on a short straight before the road twisted down into St.Antoine. At St.Juery the cars had to contend with an extreme hairpin bend, followed by a railway level crossing. The 5.531 mile circuit was shortened in 1951 to 1.859 miles, before being closed in 1955 following the Le Mans disaster. Racing resumed at the nearby Aerodrome in 1959 which is the circuit we now know as Albi. The Chicane du Sequestre was introduced in 1988 but we will be using the original layout as raced in 1967.

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for Lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to Ligne Droite Tarn on the first lap. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

unfortunate race for me.At the first lap, to avoid a contact with Reiner,i was into the barrier.Restart in last position, after an incident with Locarno there was the first engine problem.S&G again last position but with the run-up until the 6 place.
Reached Billy i made an error during the breaking and after the restart the second engine.Nothing to do for the 5 place.

I'm sorry to have missed this race at Albi. I had high hopes for my race today. My plans changed when I was reminded that it was my nephew's birthday today. They decided to have a party at the beach at the last minute. I have extra motivation for the next race at Carthage 1935. I'll need to practice just so that I know my way around that beautiful track.

Yes it's a track I like...

Had a nice battle with David who was faster with the Ferrari,
we made some little mistakes but when I made my biggest spin in DD, David made it two corners later  Grin

Had to keep the engine cool so David could allways catch me again but did not succeed in passing me  whistling

not a good race for me ,, the brabby was unsafe in my hands escpecially braking at the end of the straight , had the spectators running for cover on several occasions , then a blown engine after attempted spin turn got me a pit in following the s/r

Nice following Billy for a while till he let me pass , otherwise not much action , no wrecks , no body drowned , in fact not that much to laugh at really  Roll Eyes

Grats to Axel David & D.C. who were off into the distance having a race of there own .

Great track , connection rock solid + 60 fps throughout , ta for the fun  Smiley

Congrats Axel for the win, and Dave R. & Dave C. for podium!

Have taken a look at the Red Zone. There was some slight contact from Dave R. who braked late and nudged Axel at Double Drat, but no harm no foul. Fran also braked very late and slightly nudged Dave R. in the aftermath, but also no harm no foul...

Report eventual incidents before next Monday, please. Thanks.

As always, thanks to Axel for server duties and importing results and replay! Wink

Who is this Reiner ?  Cheesy
By the way, you should always be very cautious on first lap, especially on places like these Esses. Same for me (as I will explain ...)

I had the pole position, and was leading in the Esses just after the start but on the long straight, Cookie very easily overtook me... and as wrote Robert I was surprised by his braking. Hopefully the contact was very light.
For me, all the race was : follow Axel, tried to overtook him, made mistakes ...only one time Axel spun and I could overtake him but 2 turns later, in a place where I never made any mistake, I went out of the track  Roll Eyes
Too much pressure, or watching Pribluda for a too long time ?

Congrats Axel for a well deserved win with a Honda, great job Dave Curtis for your 3rd ...good for the team and for me as you take some points to George which seems to be a great challenger for the championship.

Not an ideal track for the Cooper. I could trundle round in the 1.13's & just about everyone was in the 1.12's. My strategy was to make fewer mistakes than the opposition & it sort of worked out. Finish P5 & didn't get lapped.
Whilst it handled well the Cooper simply got eaten up on the long straight. Bernie easily out ran be but succumbed to Double Drat a couple of laps later. In the last few laps Fran hauled me & went past but got his braking wrong in Double Drat.

Not a good race for me, I needed to be in the 1min 11s to be anywhere near competitive but could barely do 1min12s. Still, I could have held on to a lucky 3rd were it not for frame rate issues which meant I found myself off the road a few times. I had to wait for gear shifts to be registered sometimes. Very distracting. I don't know how I didn't lose wheels in one of my off road moments towards the end of the race. Oh well...

Mod report is published.

The additional 2 places lost for Fran (for penalty points, automatically generated by LM2) is provisional, since he has appealed against one of the Zandvoort penalties.
