Me too, quite enjoyed that. Good racing with Clive although he was clearly quicker. After getting close many times and then getting alongside approaching one of the chicanes, I decided discretion was appropriate and eased off to let him by. Then we passed Geoff in the hedge shortly after so I regained the place back again. However, why is Clive listed after me in the results when I followed him home across the finish line? Mistake there I suspect..

Congrats podium.

I was solidly last, having spent two laps in the pits whilst they rebuilt the car.

You looked lonely so I thought that I should liven up your race.  ;-)

After a few years away from online racing I honestly was a bit nervous.
Telling to myself, not ruinning anyones race.
My pole was a real luck, one of those laps in a thousand that everything went well.
At the start, wheels span more than desired but all ran fine.
Next lap with so many hungry wolfs behind and my eyes on the mirror,
made a few mistakes, from 1st to 5th, then 3rd and finaly 6th.
Somewhere at the middle of the race braking on the left that goes to an almost 180º bend,
found Symon drifting on brakes left to right and left and I hit him when he full stop in the  middle
of the bend. I'm sorry if I caused any damage, on full brakes couldn't avoid you.
ON replay I notest your engine smoking before your full stop tho. What happened?

After I had a nice tossle with Matt, right behind him but with no changes to try an overtaking move,
nice pace Matt. So while chasing Matt's 2nd place and with only 6 laps to go, booooom,
I hit the pit exit wall ruinning my engine.  Grin

Liked the track/car combo, nice challenge.

Thanks all for letting me join this race. Looking for next oportunitys.  Wink

Congrats john and well done podium.

Cheers

Ah I see. So we weren't fighting for position then - if I had realised that I would have let you by much sooner, although yes it certainly did liven up my race, thanks for that  Smiley

I didn’t think I would, but personally I really enjoyed it. The Jag MK2 is a bit of a barge but was a good match & the it was a classic example of: the less enjoyable a track is to practice/hotlap, the better it is for racing.

I qualified higher than normal for me in 5th, but then was caught sleeping on the start line & lost 3 places in the blink of an eye. Making some good key corner exits made it possible to get past other on the straights, something that against some drivers was made easier by having the faster car available Cheesy

Enjoyed trying to pass speedy John, one time I felt I’d been to aggressive through one of the chicanes so eased off to let him back past. My reward for which was to be bumped a few times round the next lap by Simon, but was lucky no harm done. Eventually got myself up to 2nd & chasing down Matt who was in clear 1st. Took a couple of laps & then enjoyed that little exchange, especially going through the 2nd chicane using the view through your windscreen to judge the road position Cheesy Exciting stuff, until I clipped you going round the 3rd gear left just before the 360 right turn. Obviously I waited (as it’s the right thing to do & it’s what we do here) but while you recovered Jon was able to catch & pass us both & gain a healthy lead. So once again, sorry I robbed you Matt of what would have been 2nd place to me not John Wink

I don’t think I’ve ever won a PnG race & following that, my focus disappeared & I went on to make a handful of mistakes all on my own over a couple of laps, & quit in disappointment with myself  :'(

I can't quite believe my luck on that one! Certainly wasn't expecting a win, but I'll take it Grin

A good start, avoiding trouble and not making mistakes on the first few laps got me into a surprising first place, with Matt close behind. The pressure showed though, and I put a wheel on the grass on the run up to the hairpin. Spun and just about made it back on in front of Legzy and he was all over me for the next few laps. I tried to make his life difficult but it was only a matter of time before he got past and started chasing Matt. Good stuff while it lasted though thumbup1

Managed to stay in touch and closed up when they started battling. I was hoping to profit from any mistakes, and for once it actually happened (about 1550 on my replay is a good bit to watch Cheesy). I sailed through the pair of them and off into the distance Smiley

Was a good race, I think 2nd or 3rd is where i would have finished without the assistance of Legzy
As he and John were both slightly faster over a lap in the later stages, would have been fun to see how John managed
with two 4.2s to pass, but it wasn't to be. Lots of people were all over the road in that left right hairpin section
so was not unexpected that there would be some contact during the race.
Chris is right I believe, some places are not great for hot lapping but make for a good race, and this was one of
them IMHO  Cool

Utterly mystified by that   Huh . Practice went OK and so did qually although I was half a second down on my PB. In the race however it felt like my brake lines had beeen cut and I couldn't slow down for the hairpin even when braking well before "my" dirty marks in the road.

Every time I made progress, even into the lead on lap 1, I ran wide at the hairpin and undid all my good work. The vaugaries of online competition I guess.

In the end I was so distacted by trying not to hit anybody with my brakeless old heap that I changed down a bit early and BANG! no more engine. I didn't realise it had blown up until it started to rotate gently so applogies to whoever hit me before I managed to press the escape button.

Probably my worst PnG experience so far  hang

Like Simon I just could not get anywhere near my PB in offline praccy during qualifying. The race was even worse!! and the harder I tried, the slower I lapped... a lesson there somewhere I think?  Roll Eyes

Places in the front half of the fiel seemed to cahnge every few laps as various cars came to grief at the hairpin, usually in pairs. the problem was that laughing at them trying to rescue their beached whales usually meant that I made the same mistake on the next lap!! thus losing all that I had gained.  Undecided

Not sure what my problem was, but I was 1.5 secs down on what I expected for almost every lap. Simon's loss of brakes was mirrored in my car and any attempt to go deeper into the corners ended in grief and grass. Then the problem was persuading the ruddy barge to actually turn in and stay on the grey stuff.

Despite all of this it was an entertaining race with lots of positional changes and faster drivers recovering. It was so unpredicatable that i was half hoping to find 3 cars stranded at the hairpin on the last lap so that I could steal the podium place.

Grats to John on working that weedy little 3.8 to the flag and to all the finishers.

P.S. I have a collection of Jag wing mirrors, door handles and chrome bumpers for sale. All just slightly blemished, ideal for enthusiast.  Grin

I can report that my car was just as bad on race day as it had been on any other outing!

Considering what a big part Jaguar's use of the disc brake had in their battles with Ferrari at Le Mans, I find it strange that PnG should decide that the car has no brakes!

My replay has now decided to work and so I can report that it was Stig who propelled me into the tyre wall but since he went on to score good points for SBRC I guess that all is forgiven.  Grin

Also enjoyed John's "pass" between the two spinning 4.2 cars of Legzy and Matt.  Legzy could well have sustained some damage on the front left corner as John passed, which may account for the struggle that he seemed to have afterwards.

Congrats to John, Matt and Stig.

My apologies Clive, I had a look a the replay, and unfortunately your absolutely right.   hang

I'm very sorry to have ruined your race. The problem was that I never realized that I had hit you. I thought the bump came from passing the curb of the chicane.
If I had known what happened, I would of course have waited for you.

Very decent of you to forgive me Clive, but I have reported the incident recommending a disqualification. IMO No one should stay on the podium after having sent another racer off like that.
