S28 - Friday Trophy - Round 11 - CanAm 71 - Zolder 67

The 11th race of this season will be at Zolder in Belgium.  In the days before Spa became a permanent fixture on the F1 calendar, ten grand prix were run at Zolder. Most famously in 1982 when Gilles Villneuve tragically lost his life during qualifying. The new Zolder 67 version is a great piece of track building by Ginetto.

Remember: for the LIGHT drivers the most popular car will be dropped for the rest of the season! Look at the bottom!

ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.
If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
Please check the Season 28 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Thanks mate - appreciated! Smiley

I guessed you must have been having a worse time of it than me.  I was having mistakes the last number of laps & losing time,   But you must have had your own issues at the same time as the gap seemed to be staying about the same.

It was still a lot of concentration for me,  even at my snail-pace.

Cheers all,
Dave.

At the end the gap was reduced and without the engine blow i think there was one possibility to join you.My main problem was made by the faster pilots that overlapped me,anyway ,from the replay and in "normal condition",your time was very similar to mine.

Congrats Tom and Dean! Nice drive in the Ferrari, Tom! I'm guessing the Ferrari is approximately 1 second per lap slower than the M8D. It's interesting that you finished 1sec/lap X 33 laps = 33 seconds behind. I drove fairly consistent with only one lap where I almost stopped to keep from spinning coming out of Boulderbergbocht.

That was fun. It was a lot easier than I expected with Dean's mistakes. Axel was slower than I thought he would be. I could have used the Ferrari but I was thinking of last season where I needed every bit of speed I could find to beat Mark and Axel. With Axel being slower than I expected, I thought about switching to the Ferrari early in qualifying but Dean had me scared. lol He was fast enough that I burned too much fuel early in the race to get away from him. I was going to come up approximately .5 gallons short even after running more than 10 laps in a higher gear for most turns. I don't when Tom had to refuel but I reset shortly before the last lap. Luckily, my mistake didn't cost me anything.

I tested the 712 immediately after the race. I could have qualified it in the high 21s at least but I took the easy route going with the fastest available car since I only practiced for 1 hour just before qualifying started. With Dean's mistakes I could have been very competitive with the 712. It was more pleasurable to drive in my short test session.

My apologies Fran for hitting you in qualifying. You were much slower out of the final turn than I was expecting. I was trying to set you up for pass whether you wanted to let me pass or not. You should probably wait a little longer to lift off the throttle. I got close in the race too but I was better prepared then.

Thanks guys.

Oh yeah, it's a shame Walter, Mark, and Iestyn couldn't or wouldn't join us. Sad I was hoping Mark might make it again this week. I was a little surprised Iestyn didn't make it. With the small field, Dean's mistakes, and Tom joining us, the Ferrari would have been a good choice for me to make the race more interesting.
