S28 - Friday Trophy - Round 15 - 67 F2 - Zolder 67

The next race of this season will be at Surfers Paradise International Raceway, a motor racing complex at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The 3.219 kilometres (2.000 mi) long circuit was designed and built by Keith Williams, a motor racing enthusiast who also designed and built the Adelaide International Raceway (AIR) in South Australia in 1972.  The circuit was mainly used for Sports Car racing most notably in 1966 when Jackie Stewart and Andrew Buchanan won the Group A Sports Cars race in a Ferrari 250LM.  Formula 1 cars never raced here but there was a race for Open-Wheel cars in 1975 in the guise of the Australian Formula 1 series.

Remember: for the LIGHT drivers the most popular car will be dropped for the rest of the season! Look at the bottom!

ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.
If you Reset on the last lap a 30 second time penalty will be awarded if you cannot s+g before the finish line in the pit lane.

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
Please check the Season 28 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Wow, 2nd place is my best Friday result in some time. I will have to check the records to see if I have finished that high before. The funny thing is that I almost didn't race because this is a busy week.

As for the race, I felt right at home racing against Fran and Dave. The only problem was that my connection was lagging. I was worried about following too close. Luckily, I managed to slip past each, and then both Dean and Axel had bad luck. I wasn't sure if I could hang on to second or third with them behind me. Lucky for me the race wasn't any longer. Congrats Greg for the win! Good race everyone!

Congrats Walter; way too fast for me!  Looks as though once you had got just past half distance you must have found another gear or something!

Still, was refreshing to still see other entrants for the entire event & not be lapped!
Some close stuff at times;  quite exciting!  Was trying to keep it steady particularly with the close company,   but I have a feeling that thanks are due elsewhere for avoiding contact  [I think it was contact-free anyway].

Unlucky Axel,  but kept it interesting until the end & thanks for the tow Smiley

Cheers,
Dave.

Ah, but your fast lap just nipped mine! I wasn't too sure whether or not my third gear was low enough for the second corner (Lukey). Some of the time I'd shift down into third and other times down to second.

Without FFB is possible to drive but with habit of the FFB becomes strange into the curve. At the first lap the first error with consequence to drive alone, than others error with the consequence"better to sleep instead to drive".

Good race guys! Very nice times posted by all.

Without a mistake, it would have been very difficult if not impossible to beat Axel. He was driving well, while leading, until he spun. He had opened a gap from small mistakes on my part and looked as if he might be able to extend it. It looks like I'm getting good at pushing Axel faster. I see your fast lap was one I was right on your gearbox. I was trying to push us further ahead. It's much easier to deal with one car later in the race. I was almost able to cruise in Axel's tow. I was braking 50m hoping to give Axel plenty of room for any point he might decide the to brake. The slipstream easily pulled me back. Once I ran wide in T1 it got a bit more difficult. I'm not sure if my tire overheated or not. Later when I displayed the temps my LF was overheated and unevenly heated. One of my bumps into a rail or wall, shortly after Axel spun, must have damaged my car.

Nice job Walter. You had me worried if I kept making mistakes, I could lose the lead.

It's shame Iestyn and Tristan didn't join the race. They'd have kicked my butt severely with all the mistakes I made. It would nice if we had more entrants.

Thanks guys.

Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same
