Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Dave Curtis wins his first race of the season in the Eagle, setting also the fastest lap. Congratulations! Philippe Girard finishes an excellent second in the Brabham, his third podium of the season. Billy Nobrakes rounds out the podium finishers, also in a Brabham. Billy was also most consistent this race. Well done all!

Bernie Darwin finishes 4th when George Cheeseman gets a 10s time penalty and drops to 5th. Francesco Molteni was the last lead lap finisher in 6th. Championship contender Axel "Cookie" Koch finished a lap down in 7th. Championship leader Dave Rainier retired but is classified as 8th, and Michael Turner is the last points scorer in 9th retiring after halfway. Bastian came a lap short to score points and Paul "Badblood" Whitfield also retired early on. Commiserations.

No incidents in the red zone, Bastian had a moment after the start, but Billy did a tremendous job avoiding him! Two incidents were reported, and again there were some infractions of the rules.

Bastian joins the server with two different cars. Please take care in what car you take for the race.

Server replay time: 0h05m45s

Bastian resets after having stopped in the pits. Technically this is not a Stop & Go. Normally you reset somewhere out on the track, and make your Stop & Go in the pitlane.

Server replay time: 0h13m36s

George doesn't come to a stop at his Pit Stop, his lowest speed is about 51kmh/32mph before accelerating again.

Server replay time: 0h27m45s

Axel is on the inside line towards Abbey, Dave C. on the racing line. Dave lets Axel go, but since Axel's entry is compromised being it tighter, he isn't going as fast Dave thinks, and he rear ends Axel. Dave backed out to allow Axel room but misjudged Axel's speed. I am sympathetic with Dave waiting for Axel, but Dave should have been more cautious also taking into account Axel's tight entry. Thanks to Dave for reporting the incident himself, good sport.

According to Dave it looked as though Axel may have ended up slower at that point compared to other laps. Axel stated he kept the inner line and had to brake harder, so Dave was surprised by the speed difference.

Server replay time: 0h46m50s

George is following Francesco and Bernie towards Club corner. He then brakes too late and almost clears Bernie, but just clips Bernie's RF tire, pushing Bernie into Fran, who was giving room for Bernie on the outside. Fran did reset after this, but that was not a result of the incident, Fran reported his engine already had damage. It appears George lost full control trying to avoid Bernie. However George should have taken care and being prepared to brake earlier in traffic than he normally does. I'm not sure if it even was an attempt to pass, but this has to be a ambitious overtake. Thanks Bernie for reporting.

Season 28 Privateers Trophy - Round 8 - Silverstone

For Round 8 we return to Silverstone, the Home of British Motorsport. Silverstone hosted the very first Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1950 and although the circuit layout has changed over the years, the variant of the track we will race on tonight is practically the same as the original 1950 layout. The only real difference is the pit lane. In fact the track was used in this form until 1975.  Silverstone witnessed dozens of spectacular races during this period not only Formula 1 but also sports cars and motorcycles.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 21-06-2015
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Papyrus original
Race length = 34 Laps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Intermediate
Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Moderating The red zone will be fully moderated for Lap 1 only. For this event the red zone will be from the start to exit of Stowe on the first lap. Other moderation will be on reported incidents only.  However any incidents that occur in the red zone that are not reported by the drivers will be reported by the moderator.  This will allow all affected drivers the opportunity to present their case before the incident is moderated.  This should ensure there are no surprises when the moderator's report is published and hence appeals will be less likely.  If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Should really look at the replay before posting;   but apologies Cookie.  Was otherwise mostly fun & good natured otherwise.

Jumped in the car for qually & could not get it hooked up.  Quite a bit slower than my apparent PB some time ago.
Then somehow got P3 which turned into P4 with a still slightly scrappy (for me) lap.

Will have to review replay, but race seemed mostly clean.
Don't know where the FL came from [although - have you seen the Pro times?!];    I guess Cookie's helpful tows at work again.

Cheers all,
Dave.

My apologies to Darwin for the slight contact during my pass on lap 30. I hadn't planned to pass there but it seems you were slowed by the car you were battling with (Molteni?) or you were being cautious on the brakes but I had to duck out form behind you to avoid contact in the braking zone and in doing so, I thought I might as well take the opportunity to pass as the gap was there. It seems we touched slightly which then sent you into the other car on the outside.

i know that there is not a good feeling between us but i want to suggest you to use the Shift-R immediately.
I don't understand why ,when you have some mechanical problem,you try to gain the box instead to use the shift-R and than go to the box.

For Axel:
After the race i was curious to understand what happened to Axel.You have my sympathy Axel,i know what mean 2 engine in few time!

Was enjoying looking at tailpipes and driving very cautiously whilst I felt my way back into the 67s. Amazingly blew the engine! Aggh. Then trying to catch up the lost ground after the stop and go span at Abbey and turned over on the bank. Drat and double drat!

Solid race for me - almost error free - & quite happy with a podium finish.

Congratulations to team mate DC who has now won both the 65 & 67 races at Silverstone. I had a chance of catching him in the 65's but the Eagle was way to quick for me last night. Good drive by Phillipe for 2nd.

I choose the Honda to be at the same level than Axel ...
What a wrong choice !! This car is undriveable for me on such track with high speed and strong braking.
After several spins, I prefer to retire.

Really, Axel, always driving the Honda, deserves to win this championship.

I don't know what happened to Axel at the end of the race, after dominating the 3/4 of it.
But nice win for Dave C, good 2nd position for Philippe.

After Silverstone, 4 drivers could still win the championship (points after removing the 2 worst results)

1 - Rainier  279
2 - Cookie     259
3 - dave curtis  221
4 - Billy Nobrakes 194

Now, I have enough tokens to choose Eagle or Lotus for the 2 final races, but against another driver on Honda, I don't think it is a sportive attitude  Undecided

Well, first of all a big grats to Dave for a deserved win!

Yes David it helps a lot to drive the same car all season,
but it is still a hard work to get the Honda handsome and keep it on such a high speed track.

Dave was allways close and in the reach of my tow, so I could not make up a bigger gap to get rid of him.
We had some great moments after he had found more confidence to try a pass...

Dave waited fair for me after a touch in lap 19 and the close fight began again, but was ended soon by my engine pop.
After my s+g I was in 4th and pushed too hard so my engine failed again just some meters in front of the s+f line wich I took rolling but a lap down.

...Bastian came a lap short to score points...

just some meters...!   Cheesy

I was asking in chat if a car change is allowed when no time has been set - i'm not sure who answered positively but i won't do anymore.
The stop and go - for me it was more dangerous to stop on a high speed straight when the field is tight together. But its ok i will move away as much as i can and s/r there.

Best Regards

Under Rules/On-Line/General:

Once the driver has entered the server their car choice is made. They may not exit and change car after they have joined the server. The only exception to this is if WinVROC, IGOR or the driver accidentally selects the wrong car. In this case they must exit immediately (without driving any laps) and change to the correct car.

Any driver who sets a time and then changes car will be penalized. Please see the Penalty Guidelines for more details.

I have given advice, and surely with small grids it isn't a real problem...

The best way to have done your Stop & Go would have been resetting just before pitlane, and then do your Stop & Go...
