This is a special to try out Race Room Experience On line. It will be on the free Portimao Track with the 1992 car set. It will take a similar format to our normal P&G events, but there will be no results posted and there is no championship. The On line is still "alpha" so is very incomplete. There is a P&G Interleague event this week on the Tuesday, and though some might argue that you can never have enough P&G, I am going to use this slot for this special event. Apologies to any who lose their gruntles about it, but I need to investigate alternatives to P&G.

If you want to try before you buy, Steam are doing an "everything free to try" weekend.

Matt is keen to try out a newish race sim called Raceroom Experience by almost the same company that have in the past bought us GTR, GTR2, GTL, Race etc etc. As the P&G grids have diminished recently he is planning, if all goes well, to introduce an alternative to P&G to run alternate weeks. The first step is to test it's multplayer behavior. The Multiplayer aspects of this driving sim are still in alpha (early development) phase. http://game.raceroom.com/The sim is free to download but you have to buy the content. It comes with three free tracks and a couple(?) of cars to try out.

aha! the fog clears a little. Thanks Tony.
Happy to try a free download and try this out, but I have to confess that I have a natural aversion to paying for content in a sim after being involved with the iRacing experience and spiralling costs of staying involved.

I have binned everything that I've been sent on this so I don't know what is on offer.
Will it give the cars from the 60s and 70s?
EDIT: I've read a bit and don't think that I shall be putting my arm in this particular mangle. If you are going to knock PnG on the head then it makes more sense to adopt AC as the primary sim for tin-tops. And I can retire all together!

Unfortunately no which is my largest moan about this sim. If your a modern day GTR/DTM/WTCC fan your in 7th heaven as most of the car packs cater for these dudes. For more hysterical content you have to seek out the Gr.5 Classics car pack http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/group-5 or the 1992 DTM car pack http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/dtm-1992

I have Simbins Race07 and all the various Add-ons. I presume Raceroom use the same car physics more or less, am I right?
Anyway, I'll DL it, when I get the chance, even though I don't like the new concept of a 'free' game, that ends up being far more expensive than a full game is.

And don't forget this class... http://game.raceroom.com/store/cars/touring-classicsAs I've said before, if you don't want to buy a full pack of cars you can test drive them all before choosing your favourite one to buy from each class. You don't have to own them all to race alongside them. You do need the tracks but you can buy them individually or as a track pack (Portimao is free so you don't need to buy a track for this race). I reckon there's easily a year's racing with the three historic packs and existing tracks.

Yes, it's the same ballpark and will seem familiar to you. However compared with the Retro pack from Race07 for instance, RR is certainly a big step forward in just about every department.
