Season 28 Professionals Trophy - Round 10 – Mexico

The last round of the season is at Mexico's Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a 2.786 mile race track in Mexico City, Mexico. This is the Papyrus track, loved and hated in equal measures. Scourge of the racer's lines are those polo tyres, sure to trip you up should you stray off course.

It is named after the famous racing drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro also lost his life behind the wheel nine years later.

The circuit is located within the public park of the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in southeast Mexico City.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

This season, races are to be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8

Unlucky Ray, I could see you and Axel were taking it to Rob and Tris in the first third of the race. Spare a thought for Beefpie - I took his track record by 0.03 :'( - but he set it in a Honda - what pace! I would need to stitch together the low 50 that's on pribluda to match it - I tried my best, with some draft from Basti to get another half a tenth in the race, but was carrying 13 not 12 gallons, which would have made it for me. But a spin put me below the 100mph average! Grats to Rob - season champion! Cool

I was kind of looking forward to the challenge in the BT7 and with Ronnie's help I got a reasonable qually time.

I knew that I was vulnerable off the line as the BT7 lacks any grunt but I needed to stay in touch with cars in front, because I would badly need the draft on that long straight when we came around again and my gearing was set to max that opportunity.

I stayed wider than normal at T1 with fingers and legs crossed, just waiting for the nudge that usually happens, but came through unscathed......or so I thought!!
I had been a bit harsh with the downshifts through T1 and accelerating out of the tight left at T2...the engine took exception to being harrassed and shut itself down 200mtrs later  Sad.......race over after 20 secs!!!

looks like the rest of you guys had some good fun. Grats to Iestyn on the lap record and to Robert on (yet another) championship.
Maybe next season I will use a car with more power. Undecided

Thanks guys. Iestyn missed a few races, otherwise it would have been close, as he outperformed me at most races he attended Wink

Same happened at Mexico, drove a chassis PR in clean air in quali, but Iestyn bettered it by half a second. Just couldn't hang on in the race, and Iestyn drove away gradually. Suffered again from freezes/lag, at the hairpin, or out of it. Always seem to have probs where the track intercollides, also on the old system. Only with 67s at Schottenring and Interlagos I didn't have probs so far, in the race.

First laps were exciting, with also Axel keeping pace. But after some laps suffered more from the freezes, and Tristan gained on me for a while, but then things went better and was able to find a good pace. Not good enough for Iestyn, who could afford a spin.

Congrats Iestyn, incredible pace, and well done for second in championship, despite missing a few races. Also congrats to Axel for a close fought third overall, among the likes of Dean, Tristan, and Dave Rainier who again showed to be one of the most solid and consistent drivers.

Since starting with 65's early 2014, now have ran Ferrari, Brabham and BRM. Norm mentioned before I should run Honda next Season, but most likely it will be Cooper. Looking forward to the challenge Wink

Thanks all for racing, and thanks to Axel, Jethro and Phil for hosting and moderating! Smiley

Grats to the Champ Robert and Winner Lestyn and all finishers on tuesday.

My Race was good for 16 laps when my concentration faded away because of the heat und being tired.

I made several mistakes then and lost the connection to Dave, Dean, etc...
But it was nice fighting, thx for racing.

Best Regards,
Bastian

Now that the S28 Pro season is a wrap, I just wanted to jump in and offer up congrats to Robert for clinching the overall title honours.  And in fine style, too!

As ever, Iestyn is a serious threat and gets his reward with a creditable P2 in the final standings.  Well done, sir.

Last podium honours for the championship go to Axel in a fine performance.  Grats!

Special mentions for both Dean and Dave who came very close to scooping that last podium placing in the title run.  Well done, lads.

I have to say that I was somewhat disappointed in my show.  I expected better in the P261 but it was not to be.  As I don't plan on making the full slate of races in S29, I don't see myself as placing any better than S28.  Time will tell...
