It really isnt too much to ask people to register here if they plan to run in our races is it?

I was thinking about running different passwords, but then it still doesnt stop people from passing it on. Yes it means they can race but it it doesnt help us to enforce/ maintain the drving standards if people arnt prepared to visit the forums and participate.

A possible solution to this would be to simply exclude them from the results together with those who choose to ignore penalties  Tongue

Heh, even the regulars on here don't participate nor bother commenting in these forums  Roll Eyes
Was hoping those new faces would become new regulars, but thought they must have registered on here to get the PW? I certainly didn't give out the PW to anyone and it's not in the advert thread over on Kunos. Perhaps this turn up and race is just the new way of simracing ?  Undecided. At least they boosted the grid number and made it an event rather than a handful of racers. Smiley. Can't they just go in the results as 'guest racers' if they don't shout up? Might even be they don't speak English!

So we didn't enforce the stop and go penaltys then ? nono  don't agree with that personally, what's the point of running it? Time can be gained cutting corners at tracks like Donington and Monza to name but two, even in the line you can choose to take in corner sequences for faster laps if no fear of the kerb margins. Undecided

I suspect that they may still get penalties in due course. Results are imported from the game and it's not the job of the person importing the results to add penalties or exclusions, that would come through the incident reporting system and the incident moderation team.

Last night on Core racing at Monza, there was the usual T1 shenanigans at start and to avoid the spinning cars I ventured into the gravel. Avoided getting hit but ended up last and got a penalty for my troubles, I was only doing about 10mph and clearly had already been penalised. It's clear PLP doesn't work properly and will almost certainly give rise to much post race analysis which is ok if the race mods have got the time??

Can i just add before virtual fingers are pointed.... I did not give out any passwords to anyone this time.. It deffo was not me.

One way to do this would be just like darren does on core-racing .. Its an excellent way of doing it imo, you have to sign up otherwise you just cant race.

Do you mean you have to pre-book the drivers? That's how it was done at ESRA too.

The way they did it was that each race post was actually a vote where the VOTE was "YES" register me "NO" don't register me "MAYBE". Then the server starter added everyone on the YES list and if grid spaces left everyone on the MAYBE list. You would need to commit to a car make/model but I don't think that would be a problem, but does require another "registration" thread to confirm people's choices.

yep totally agree with Chris and Sharky, pre race voting is definitely a good move as it helps give people an idea how many racers are attending and creates interest as the list increases. it worked well at Esra and now at Core racing.  Smiley

To Sutol, yes know the cut warning can work against you when you just have an incident, but you still get 3 chances before being given a stop and go. If you generally make 3 cutting errors then your not driving either within your own or the tracks limits. When I get a cut warning I take due care at that same corner for rest of race, not ignore the first warning  angel and likewise had races where if i've picked up two warnings I slow more later in the race to avoid a costly penalty. Not ideal but better than a handful of drivers getting a continued advantage for a full race length by cutting. All other leagues use this utility to good effect so don't see why we should let it slide. Just my thoughts on it.  Smiley
