The 'linked thread' is : Track = Donnington.  The reason I guess is light graphics (256x256).  These can help reduce discos.  This may have already been explained.  When everyone understands such orders, they are happier to obey them.

We've been having a lot of fun on the practice server (you'll see it if the replays are saved!), but one thing that came to our attention: http://srmz.net/index.php?showtopic=3287. I first joined with the shrub bollards, but got a 'could not load track', so it depends on the server - would it be better to have these for the race?

There's solid bollards or the shrub ones (which probably won't rip a wheel off, solid ones are probably like Brands T1). Alternative is a cut corner penalty for the chicane? Or none, but then it's very subjective, as the faster line is more and more kerb/grass/bollards.. Edit: I think everyone has to have them installed as well.

PS. If we could get some flagmen and a starter for Donington '37.. Looks fabulous!  Shocked

IMO at the current config we need to keep at least 2 tires on the tarmac in the chicane...please do NOT cut the chicane intentionally, if you make a mistake and have to cut make sure you don't gain advantage...

I easily gained 1 second cutting the chicane. The two or three times I raced here before, everyone was asked to install Lou Magyar's solid bollards. That's what I'd prefer but it doesn't really matter. Today was my first time "cheating" on this track. I'll be tempted to do it again but I won't if there is space on the server today.

Can I ask that we all observe the spirit of this series & there is no deliberate & persistent corner cutting at the chicane. There is no need to upgrade your client version of the track to solid bollards but please drive as if they were.

So I hope all drivers will be fair and ensure their gear shift time (i.e. the time spent in neutral during the shift) is not less than the 0.222 milliseconds programmed into the original GPL executables.

I'm still at a loss as to why you potentially want the most realistic driving style banned, Ray (RFB and gearstick). I've shown that there isn't a sizeable advantage by getting similar times with stick, paddles, and now a realistic RFB driving style (although Tim M, Lorenzo Melli, Carsten Theile etc. already had). Speed is inherent in the driver! Ivan Tierno, Mark Barresi slaughter us with paddles in oAo and Groundhog.. racing line beats all.. Joe himself was bloody quick with RFB! Cool

Qualifying due to open momentarily.  I just downloaded, installed and tried the solid bollards.  Fine by me.  I'll go to the line with those in my track folder and come what may...

First of all great to see Malcolm joining us again, we are honoured. I Am Not Worthy

A little disappointed with my race after dragging the white whale up to 4th on the grid, and being within touching distance of the front row times. All went well until lap 2 and I had screen freeze through T2, just about to hit the ESC key when it came back to life with me on the grass Undecided...but dropped to 14th? place. I hope no-one else was affected by whatever my car did whilst I was away  Roll Eyes.

Set about chasing down some places and picked off a few, then the sound went loopy and there was some hesitation on the graphics which made judging things a bit tricky eventually it all went gaga at the chicane, and without proper sound I over revved the V12 and quit.

I might need to investigate this sound prob as I had it at Brands as well. I suffered the same looping sound a few years ago and it took a complete re-install of GPL to clear it!!
