A few notes and reminders are needed about the car pack and connection settings before this race as the result of the problems we had last weekend. The lobby issue is out of our control and is an ongoing problem with GTR. Without knowing how it works underneath I can't be sure but my gut instinct backed up by over two decades of experience is that 1.4 and 1.5 would be no different in this respect. The one question mark for me in the 1.4/1.5 debate is whether there's a correlation between those having 1 FPS and other issues and those who backed out a 1.5 installation to 1.4. I've had no problems but I've never had 1.5 installed. Could well be coincidence though. On the subject of the car pack, we believe that the "no sound" issues are to do with cars from the previous versions of the pack which have not been properly removed before the installation of the new pack. Rich is writing a guide to removing them to be published ASAP. There could be a similar issue with drivings taking cars which had to be altered for the pack, eg. those not using the UK nnn number scheme. It's very important that the version they use is the one from the pack, and not their own, incorrectly numbered one. And, of course, everyone must remember that they must have the pack installed even if they are not themselves driving a skinned car. Finally, on the subject of 1 FPS, stuttering, and poor FPS, drivers are reminded that the following steps are all known to have a positive effect on GTR's performance: - selecting "ISDN" as the connection type in the lobby screen, even if you have broadband; and
- turning replays off.
We have a fair number of new drivers in Endurance this season so I felt after the opening round's problems that we needed to reiterate these things.

Okay, here's Rich's text about uninstalling and reinstalling the car pack:Firstly, open GTRManager and uninstall SimRacing.org.uk carpack. If it is installed then it will be in the green list. Put a tick in the tick box on left in line with carpack and now in top right click the 'Uninstal!' option. Don't click Uninstall all !!! Once uninstalled delete carpack from addons folder, e.g. C:\Program Files\GTRManager\addons_GTR\UKGTR ES2.zip .. now download latest carpack from here. Put this downloaded carpack v1.3 into C:\Program Files\GTRManager\addons_GTR. Now got to C:\Program Files\GTR\GameData\Teams. Look in the following folders for any UKGTR ES2 folders and delete them. 24H/Mosler 24H/Porsche 996 Turbo GT/Ferrari_550 GT/Lister GT/Porsche993GT2 nGT/Ferrari_360 nGT/Porsche996GT3 nGT/Morgan Once you've deleted any remaining UKGTR ES2 cars, open GTRManager and install the latest v1.3 carpack as explained here. This may seem a pain to do but it's actually quite simple. I know if I install v1.3 and then straight away uninstall it works - removing every single file. If things get tampered with, things can get left in installation and affect installations made later on.

May I make a request re: car parks. Somewhere in the pack, the readme for instance, should be some version information. I am only aware of 2 versions of the pack yet Rich's/Dave's instuctructions refer to version v1.3

In the UI it's in the Addon Manager page, in the zip file itself it's probably within the binary addon file within the GTR Manager addon zip file. My Team Shark cars have all been versioned, quite handy so you know what you have got installed and not installed. GTR Manager is the easiest way to install/uninstall all the addons for sure.

1 FPS bug and stutters.
I ran into this little gem with rFactor. I found by stopping the antivirus services after disabling Panda AV helped.
I run a small network, beleive it or not, the computer browser service was causing some gitters also. I also disabled auto update service.
I have never had a jitter since.

Using AVG free edition AV and never had problems with that running. Then again, I got an AMD with ATi card and am obviously a super guru pc Penguin, hence I never EVAH run into troubles with pcs... T

I used AVG Network Edition (yes I did pay for it!) across my home LAN, never caused me any grief like Norton and other such shite products.

Would you like the TPG Racing server for overflow? I would like to log another race for testing purposes. Plus I have at least one other TPG driver that would want to participate.

I'm sure we would appreciate a 2nd server, but I wasn't going to ask after the low numbers last week. If you want to invite TGP members I would suggest you used a different password as we don't want the effort of having to change the official one each week.
Perhaps a standard password of "overflow" would do for servers fulfilling this roll.
