Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Philippe Girard wins the race, leading from start to finish, completing a hattrick, congratulations! Phil Thornton finishes second recovering from bad luck on Lap 1. Ronnie Nilsson rounds out he podium, despite having a full tank of fuel. Well done!

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Dave Curtis takes to the grass and crashes. Doesn't hit anyone and so wasn't involved but might have distracted Bernie and Fran. Fran has enough overlap to challenge (>50% but <100%) so a racing incident but could have been avoided if Bernie had noticed Fran had disappeared from his mirrors and hence realised he was along side; hence should have stayed left and given Fran room.

In the aftermath Pierre hits Phil, who slowed for the wrecks in front. Pierre reports he had a braking problem (locking up the rears) that he didn't fix before the race and ultimately has to retire after a few laps, when he spun again braking. Since Pierre clearly had problems, I will only give a Warning.

Dave Curtis - please take extra care on Lap 1
Bernie Darwin - use your mirrors for awareness, Dave might have caused distraction though

Server replay time: 0h07m39s

Dave Curtis tries to get alongside Bernie towards the Big Bend. Bernie loses control under braking and hits Dave. Both can continue.

Server replay time: 0h40m42s

Dave Curtis is following Billy for some laps, he is faster and tries to pass Billy entering the Loop. Dave had just about enough overlap, the attempt was legit. However Dave loses control under braking and slides up into Billy. Dave reports he tried to back out of it but locked up and lost control. Billy reports he did expect Dave to back out of it and takes his usual line entering the Loop. Billy has to do a reset but did ask for no penalty.

Server replay time: 0h41m34s

Francesco doesn't come to a full stop, also doesn't seem to try to stop in one of the pitstalls. Since he retired later he didn't gain an advantage, and I will only give Advice: please come to a full stop in one of the pit stalls.

Server replay time: 0h51m28s

Pierre fails to perform a Stop & go after doing a reset. Since he retired early in the race I will only give Advice: please do a Stop & Go after reset, within 3 laps.

Season 29 Privateers Trophy - Round 01 - Watkins Glen

For the first round of the Season we go to Watkins Glen, New York. Watkins Glen International (nicknamed "The Glen") is an automobile race track located in Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. It was long known around the world as the home of the Formula One United States Grand Prix, which it hosted for twenty consecutive years (1961–1980), but the site has been home to road racing of nearly every class, including the World Sportscar Championship, Trans-Am, Can-Am, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, the International Motor Sports Association and the IndyCar Series.

The circuit is known as the Mecca of North American road racing and is a very popular venue among fans and drivers. The facility is currently owned by International Speedway Corporation.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_8

Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track = Papyrus Original

60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod

Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available here

Driver lists and token rules can be found on the championship standings page

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

Gents

We might use my server (UKGPL4) for this race so that Axel doesn't have to start UKGPL8.  It all depends on reliability.  UKGPL4 has worked fine in pre-season testing but there is nothing like a genuine league race to stress the server and highlight any problems.  Please be ready to join either server tonight when you join IGOR chat.

I've set UKGPL4 up on a continuous loop today so if you get an opportunity please join the server to confirm you can connect OK with minimal latency.  Any problems please post a message on this thread.

Regards

Phil

I upgraded to W10 a few weeks ago and am now having some problems with GPL:

-   when I launch GEM I get the message  -'Unknown message for fatal error'
 - GPL doesn't recognise my G25 wheel though I have installed the latest drivers and it works OK with other games

I've reinstalled GEM 3 times and tried various compatibility setting to no avail. Similarly with the Logitech software.

Hopefully I'll be able to sort it out before tonight's race.

Quote from: BobSimpson_GPL_FAQ
User Account Control (UAC) and Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
Starting with Vista you are required to run in standard user privileges mode instead of as administrator with full administrative rights which keeps you from doing some operations like adding GEM and other utilities.  So disable UAC and DEP to run GPL:
To adjust UAC Settings:
Turn off UAC
1) Login as a local administrator.
2) Go to the Windows Control Panel and select User Accounts > Change User Account Control Settings
3) Set UAC to the least restrictive setting (Never Notify or Off).
4) "OK" your way out of the window.

To adjust DEP Settings:
Set DEP to Windows Functions Only:
1) Login as a local administrator.
2) Right-click on My Computer and select "Properties".  On Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Server 2008, you will then need to click on the like for Advanced System Settings
3) In the Advanced Tab, click on the Settings Button below Performance
4) Go to the Data Execution Prevention tab
5) Select the top radio button "Turn on DEP for essential Windows services an programs only."
6) "OK" your way out of the window.

No problem joining, good latency and quality!

But I can't see the ping in IGOR Roll Eyes

Thanks Axel
The GEM problem is now solved  - I had the settings as recommended but was opening the application with Run as Administrator which was causing the problem.
The G25 problem remains however. I have tried another wheel (an MS Sidewinder) but with the same result depite the fact that it is also recognised in Devices and works with other games.

This is really weird since I've been using the G25 for several years without any problems but now GPL simply doesn't recognise it. I've tried different USB slots as well as various compatibility settings and the Logitech profiler.
I can only assume that W10 is in some way responsible but I haven't heard of  other G25 users having these issues

Thanks Axel, good to know.  I was a bit worried as I had a clock mismatch which meant I set a ridiculously fast time in testing which I will have to delete from the server.

Not sure about the ping.  I have got it enabled in IGOR and I think I've got the right port open, perhaps something to resolve later.

It would be helpful if you are around later and had UKGPL8 on standby, just in case I have problems.

I seem to warp a lot on your server Phil, like a bandwidth mismatch!? Maybe it's just a bad router in between...

Yes something is not quite right.  I think it might have gone wrong when I joined via LAN.  So I've set the LAN BW settings in core.ini to be the same as "net_mdm" settings.  Hope that will help a bit but I did have "override core.ini" selected in IGOR so it shouldn't matter should it?

Something is wrong with UKGPL_4 atm, I have bad fps ~43 in pits and ~50 on track and lots of warp!
On Jethros and mine I have rock solid 60fps!

I will set UKGPL_8 up for security!

Well, my 1st experience with running two races in a row between F1Legends and UKGPL doesn't look too good. I had 15 minutes left to practice with the Brabham after racing with the Lotus at Zandvoort.
I had braking problems and couldn't fix them in time to get a decent lap time but being last on the grid when you have limited ambitions has its own charm, right ?  I still managed to be surprised when I got into the loop and hit the car that was before me.
Sorry for being such a nuisance. I'm willing to pay for my mistakes but nobody else should have to share the bill.
From now on, I'll stick to one race per day.

Ok the smoke at the 35th lap but also an explosion at 37th seem misfortune.
Good battle with Nilson, without his error was impossible to overtake a Ferrari with a Cooper.
