Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Philippe Girard wins the race, leading from start to finish, completing a hattrick, congratulations! Phil Thornton finishes second recovering from bad luck on Lap 1. Ronnie Nilsson rounds out he podium, despite having a full tank of fuel. Well done!

Server replay time: 0h01m20s

Dave Curtis takes to the grass and crashes. Doesn't hit anyone and so wasn't involved but might have distracted Bernie and Fran. Fran has enough overlap to challenge (>50% but <100%) so a racing incident but could have been avoided if Bernie had noticed Fran had disappeared from his mirrors and hence realised he was along side; hence should have stayed left and given Fran room.

In the aftermath Pierre hits Phil, who slowed for the wrecks in front. Pierre reports he had a braking problem (locking up the rears) that he didn't fix before the race and ultimately has to retire after a few laps, when he spun again braking. Since Pierre clearly had problems, I will only give a Warning.

Dave Curtis - please take extra care on Lap 1
Bernie Darwin - use your mirrors for awareness, Dave might have caused distraction though

Server replay time: 0h07m39s

Dave Curtis tries to get alongside Bernie towards the Big Bend. Bernie loses control under braking and hits Dave. Both can continue.

Server replay time: 0h40m42s

Dave Curtis is following Billy for some laps, he is faster and tries to pass Billy entering the Loop. Dave had just about enough overlap, the attempt was legit. However Dave loses control under braking and slides up into Billy. Dave reports he tried to back out of it but locked up and lost control. Billy reports he did expect Dave to back out of it and takes his usual line entering the Loop. Billy has to do a reset but did ask for no penalty.

Server replay time: 0h41m34s

Francesco doesn't come to a full stop, also doesn't seem to try to stop in one of the pitstalls. Since he retired later he didn't gain an advantage, and I will only give Advice: please come to a full stop in one of the pit stalls.

Server replay time: 0h51m28s

Pierre fails to perform a Stop & go after doing a reset. Since he retired early in the race I will only give Advice: please do a Stop & Go after reset, within 3 laps.

Great result for team SB's,  pity Mike got left out and hope you get your connection problem sorted soon matey .

My own race fell apart about 25 times , playing swings and roundabouts with Dave C and Billy , think it was a competition to see who could cut the most grass before end of race  Smiley

Not sure about the contact we had at 1 point Dave not looked at the replay yet but think I could have been guilty of a bit too much road rage  Smiley

Well, my 1st experience with running two races in a row between F1Legends and UKGPL doesn't look too good. I had 15 minutes left to practice with the Brabham after racing with the Lotus at Zandvoort.
I had braking problems and couldn't fix them in time to get a decent lap time but being last on the grid when you have limited ambitions has its own charm, right ?  I still managed to be surprised when I got into the loop and hit the car that was before me.
Sorry for being such a nuisance. I'm willing to pay for my mistakes but nobody else should have to share the bill.
From now on, I'll stick to one race per day.
Pierre, I've reported the incident so the moderators can have a look at it.  More from a lessons learnt perspective than anything else.  Thankfully the incident didn't appear to damage my car so no harm done.  Worked my way back up to second place thanks to a few crashes and Fran's broken Masserati engine (unlucky Fran but are you speed shifting?) which was the best I could have expected.  There was no way I was going to catch Philippe, well done PG.

Good to get back into league racing again.

Race was going to plan until about half distance. I'd been tailing Ronnie for a few laps looking for a passing opportunity - going round the outside through the loop wasn't it & I span out. After that it was a scrap for the middle order places with Bernie & Dave C. Swapped a bit more than paint with Dave turning into the loop. Looked like he had reasonable overlap but had to brake earlier - being on the inside. I thought I could keep in front but there was contact when I turned in. One of those things. Crossed the finish line a few yards behind Phillipe - but a lap down rather than second place.

My first race for the Soggies, and my first full season return for over 10 years.  I managed to put the Ferrari on the front row, just .03 seconds behind Philippe in the Brabham.  However, in my excitement, I made a fatal click and forgot to choose my setup, ending up on the grid with the standard setup and enough fuel to get to Mars.  Roll Eyes  It really was damage limitation from that moment on.  I got the jump at the start, nearly lost it in the esses, and was promptly passed by Philippe, who disappeared into the sunset.  Even if I'd had my setup, I would never have caught him - great drive, mon ami.  Smiley

I ploughed on in my petrol bowser, having a great race with Billy in the Brabham, whose downshifts sounded like the snorting of an enraged bull.  Lap after lap I managed to hold him off, but my front left was getting red hot. Fortunately for me, Billy came a cropper.  Next up to challenge me was Francesco in the Cooper.  Again, we had a Titanic stuggle for a number of laps, but my boiling front left meant my speed in the Loop was too slow and he eventually got by me.  A few laps later, I heard the horrible grinding noise of an H-16 in the shape of Phil.  A few laps later, he was past me too - brilliant drive, mate.

At this point, my dreams of a podium were shattered, but then Fran's engine blew up, and I was up to third again.  With two laps to go, I could hear the roaring of a V12 again, and a Honda appeared in my mirrors - thankfully, too late to overtake me - another couple of laps and he probably would've done.  I finished with 58 laps of fuel still on board!! Roll Eyes

So, a podium on my return!  My wife and children lifted me aloft their shoulders, my leg burned from the hot PC casing.  No champagne in the house, but the wife's bottle of Lambrini sufficed, and I sprayed it all over the lounge - earning a rebuke, obviously.  Wink

Oh dear; a bit of a shambles that one.  Makes the England rugby team look good!  [we were there for that;  should have stayed at home!]

A rearranged Sunday schedule meant no practice/qually time & nearly didn't make it at all.   What with also being rusty & 1st event of new season - probably not a good combination for 67F1...

Yes, apologies Billy.   It seemed worth a look at the inside line a couple of seconds earlier...  but once there;  thought better of it & tried to back out;   but just locked up & slid into you as you were making your own way round the outside.   I'd like to think that I'm normally better than that at following you around for lap after lap...   Shame, it otherwise looked as if we were both looking good to close in on Bernie for a bit of a scrap.

Bernie, I have some of your suspension & I think you have some of mine?!  We'll have to swap in time for the next event; failing that  or just scrap the mangled junk.  I think we were both locked up for that one.

The loop seemed a bogey corner for be tonight; after too many bumps had a car that didn't seem to like turning right & LR tyre spent most of it's time in the red.    Still,  good to be back!

Cheers all,
Dave.

It would not have made any difference;  I was a lap down Smiley

What do you mean with speed shifting?I use an H ACTlabs with cluth as shifter. This time i think that is mainly misfortune.
There is not also a random damage? The smoke from the engine i think was so.The second explosion ,after only 2 laps,is without explanation excluding misfortune.

The Brabham does seem to suffer from random engine failures quite often, I have noticed.  Another reason to hate that horrible twitchy car!

What do you mean with speed shifting?

Speedshifting means changing gear with the accelerator still pressed, causing over-revving.
