Season 29 - Friday F2 Trophy - Round 1 - Zeltweg

The first race finds us in Zeltweg - the original Österreichring.

Built in 1969 to replace the bland and bumpy Zeltweg Airfield circuit, the track was known for being very fast, as every corner was a fast sweeper and taken in no lower than 3rd gear in a 5-speed gearbox and 4th in a 6-speed gearbox.  There are also noticeable changes in elevation during the course of a lap which means the downhill sections are even faster. Like most fast circuits it was a hard circuit on engines and even harder on tyres simply because the speeds were so consistently high.

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan Wink

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP Address = look at IGOR
Race date = 09-10-2015
GPL mod = 67F2
60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod
Track dir = Zeltw71
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 24 laps
Damage Model = INT
Replay = you will get here

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Testing a replacement router.. back to how it was a bit more; hop, skip and a jump around half a lap before eventual disco. That rules out the router Roll Eyes!

Edit: Congrats Walter! Now I understand why you said you'll be busy and not really able to race for a while Cool.

Thanks everyone for the race. I knew before I started that I didn't have time to complete the race today, but I had a great time while I was here. I am sure that the sports cars will be very well suited to this track. Look for me to play it safe in the braking zones if I am able to race.

On a side note, my wife delivered our baby girl one week ago today, and both Mother and daughter are in good health. We got home from the hospital last Monday. I have been helping as much as possible, and I could not be happier! We also have a four year old son, and he is a good big brother.

Great fun scrapping with TvO and AC, until I slid just a *little* wide... Sorry, Cookie.  Embarrassed

...That rules out the router Roll Eyes!

Wish I knew what to suggest, aside from from keep trying; you are missed.

Wow, great news! Congratulations!

Good fun dicing with Dean and Axel for the lead. When they dropped back all I had to do was carry on and the win would be mine Smiley . The Lotus handled like a dream Smiley .

Edit: Congrats Walter! Now I understand why you said you'll be busy and not really able to race for a while Cool.

In the igor chat before the race, I meant to say that I didn't have time to complete the race today, but that I would do a few laps for fun. I am still hopeful that I can race this season, but I have to make sure that I am not neglecting my duties.  Grin

Congrats Tom, Axel, Dean, and Walter!

I'm no Iestyn. No practice and less than 10 minutes of qualifying just aren't enough for me. My car was an understeering pig. That really hurt me through T1 and the two turns leading onto the longest straights. That made it incredibly difficult to pass either of the Daves or Bastian.

I had to play tough to put both of the Daves behind me and it was very difficult to get away from either of them. Bastian and I had another good fight going late in the race until he dropped back.

With a better setup I probably could have mixed it up with the podium finishers but it was good fun racing with Dave, Dave, and Bastian.

Thanks guys.

Hola everyone!!!

Congratulations to Walter, best wishes to you and your family from México City!

No problem Reinier, like i wrote in the chat that day, i thought i didn't suppose to pass with yellow flag and i was going to give you back the position and boooom. Maybe i should of give it back at another place of the track. So i think it was more my fault than yours, first for thinking to much and then for choosing that spot to give back the position.

I had a great time that day, thanks to UKGPL for let me be part of this league.

Congrats to Tom, Axel and Dean!!

Greetings!!!!   Grin
