Hi,  I'm having a new machine built soon, it should be in time for GTR2 but if you or anyone
could advise what spec computer I should get it would be much appreciated. I'll move over to give you the win or something laugh But I probably would get the latest Nvidia graphics card
because the game goes on about it,but what else I'm not sure of. Undecided my Internet connection is
2.2 broadband  but it's not cable it's just down the phone line , could this be my lagg and 1fps problem! Jon and me cannot race with these problems we are fed up and need a cure. We know it can be Great, thanks Shark  Embarrassed Smiley see you soon!

1FPS  occurs lot more on Pentium. I'd switch to A64, something like an Opteron 148 very nice or even dual core Opteron 170 but twice the price of single core 148. Prefer ATI cause I can force triple buffer, other wise not much difference between ATI and Nvidia.

Yeah definately get an AMD64 rather than Intel. The 1 FPS plagues the Intels as Rich says, nothing to do with internet connection.

I think Nvidia just released a new fast value card didn't they the 7900GT, might be worth a look if you're not looking for top of the range. Not an Nvidia fan myself but nowadays they're all damn good cards both ATI and Nvidia, neither will let you down.

I'd get 1GB RAM at minimum, 2GB if you can.

Also recommend from me is the Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi sound card. Very nice.

Hope to see you back soon!

I would actually not get dual core CPU. They are relatively new technology and i've seen quite a few issues with them. In year or two there'll be much better support for them but for now i'd go for single core.

Btw i'm burning my San Diego 3700. Leaving it at stock clock of 2.2ghz then decreasing volts until it starts to error. So far done a few nights of StressCPU and last test was 1.25v for 6 hour at least without a single error. That show it might be a great overclocker.. stock for 2.2ghz is 1.35v - 1.4v.

I got this one from MicroDirect, stepping is KACAE I think not sure though. If you get one I recommend getting boxed retail version rather than OEM, probably won't make a difference but the one I got was in a box.

Thanks Rich & Shark,    Shocked
I've gamed on Pentium for years but I think your right its time for a change.
I'm talking to my man on Sunday who built my other machines this info will be
very usefull I'll take some notes now. Some of it was like a foreign language
to me but I'm sure he will know about it and be quietly impressed,
Thanks again lads  Tongue  I can't wait!!   Wink
