Also to add to the gearing issue - there are 2 gear sets to choose from, apart from the different ratios and final drives. I found gear set 2 much easier as although top speed is the same, the ratios are more closely spaced. Heel/toe throttle blipping is still required to prevent the rears locking, but it's a little more forgiving on downshifts, and a little easier to keep in the powerband.

Gear2 is much better for stability during the race for sure but you will get jumped off the start line by every car using gear set 1. I know from bitter experience!  Tongue of course half those cars in set1 may fall off due to dodgy downshifts!  Grin but you may find you have a lot of cars to get back past in your smoother set2. Both options are a compromise. Gs2 is the safer option overall.

I need to test set 2 then, I think I was on 1-42 or something.

I expect to lose places at the start, as the starting system in AC is retarded. No way to use handbrake starts to get an advantage.

Just a thought but happy to leave as-is if it causes problems, but is it worth dropping the penalty app for this series? I don't want people's races ruined by getting unnecessary cut penalties through errant car control under braking rather than blatant cutting. I'd rather guys focus on the racing than get an annoying cut warning.
I can watch the race replay and hit any repeat deliberate cutters with a time penalty or points dock if necessary. devil

I've fallen out of love with PLP especially as it gave me a cut warning each time I existed the pits at the last race I did. I'm happy to run it as it gives pointers as to who's 'cutting' but we should ignore its penalties IMHO. We could go back to the good old ways of letting drivers report others, be it contact incidents or cutting ones.

Is there a way locally to force AC to save replays without having to click the save button? I usually click past it and then you've lost the chance.

if you open the replays folder in assetto corsa there is the last race stored under a file called 'cr'. just rename and there you go.

Agreed, better way forward for these sort of cars. I think the cut app has its uses and suits the modern good handling cars, especially at tracks like Monza where time can be gained cutting.

So if you get a cut warning this eve ignore any penalties but if you see someone repeat cutting...dob him in to me or Picnic   Grin

Server was set up with a bit more grip than before I think, so was able to improve my laptimes, in combination with the other and better gearing.

That meant I had a bad start, but wel all did  Tongue. Erik got off the line better, but was able to fend him off in T1.

After that I was being very careful not to fall off in lap 1 with cold tyres, before I gently started to aim for mid 42's. Saw Ed went for hards, which worried me, does he know something I don't about these tyres (which is easy, as I knew nothing  Tongue).

Around lap 10 I started to think about the amount of laps. 22 Laps of around 1:42 each. That sounds like a whole lot more than 30 minutes  Grin. That made me more worried about tyres.
Surprisingly I could get in or close to 42's till few laps before the end. So they would be fine for a 30 mintue race, but risky for something longer.

Right front tyre was dark orange due to flatspotting, which became worst and worst. I vibrated half the race I think   .Think this is the perfect time to get the wives to simrace  angel .

Thanks MJ for getting this arranged so quickly, turnout was okay for such short notice and seeing previous amounts. With a bit more advertising and maybe the PM-ing, we could get a few more.
