Link to my 16 car skin pack. Not quite sure how we assign skins to drivers yet but I figured if we all install this skin pack at least we all get given random good racing skins rather than stock plain road car themes.  Smiley Assuming our SROUK guys don't mind putting this on the server?  All tested and all work, been used online and off without problems, and all available in public domain.

There are no skins as such on the server (which for me is a good thing) and cars are only allocated by the server during pickup races. Come race night the skin someone drives is chosen by the driver based on what they have locally. Sorry but I don't intend to install skin packs on my work PC just so pickup races can have a skin outside of the core AC pack.

im not sure how the skin thing works. Does it have to be on the server? Or if we have the skin pack installed on our own pc's won't that mean we all get to see the different skins? Problem is your not prepared to put any skins on the server is we are doomed to lame looking same car grids as most of the stock skins are plain road cars  Sad it's only 45mb and all are installed in my own sim without problems.

You've missed my point, there are no skins on the server, none, diddly squat, not even the default ones. You can only see a skin if you've got it locally, if someone races a car with a skin you don't have you get a white car (you don't download skins from the server).

Will download the skinpack then. Grin

Better check if you got the latest version V1.11 of Doni if you did race there before with the GT2 race as I believe it could be still v1.10 on your pc then.

I'm not simply being pedantic here but I doubt anyone will believe me......

Link to my 16 car skin pack. .......... and all available in public domain.
Well not really your skin pack, it's a skin pack compiled from other's work whom you've not credited.

I never once implied it was my work and I wouldn't dare take credit for creating them. I spent over two hours trawling mod sites downloading them, testing them in races and uploading them in a pack for the benefit of us all to make the racing look good. So no need to get p*ssy about it.  Angry Did you spend a whole evening trying to put a series together for us all? I flipping did.

But thanks for clarifying in the server skins thing, that's all I wanted to know. Let's leave it to the racers to decide if they want a nice looking grid.

I knew you'd take that the wrong way.... however I expect each of the skin producers took well over 1 evening to produce each skin yet get no credit for that. See where I'm going?

Yes I get where your coming from. But they produce skins to release to the public and no doubt get their enjoyment from seeing them used in races by people, not sat on someone hard drive unused. Same for track creators and any other mod creators. I got all the skins from public mod forums, not swiped from official racing sites.
If you want I will retrace my steps and list every skin creator I can find the details of and list them with thanks, but some I've had on my pc since the early days of AC. But it seems unnecessary. Do we normally list a track creators mod with gratitude when we use it? No.
Why the brick walls? Thought I was doing something appealing for the majority but already get the feeling it's not wanted.  Undecided

For anything hosted by SimRacing.org.uk we've traditionally got permission from the author to host the files which they've always freely given generally only asking we credit their work. Credit where credit is due and all that. I'm sure, like others, we're grateful you've put this skin pack together for us as it will provide a more visual racing experience.

As for walls, I think I've knocked down a couple for you this morning; I've explained how the entry system works and why I believe it's not required plus I've upgraded the server with the new version of Donington and started the practice server Wink

Thanks Pete, think we are all on the same side...eventually  Wink
Shouldn't have 'discussions' pre morning coffee anyway, too grouchy  Grin

Back to the race. 1:43's for me so far with medium tyres, 22 laps of fuel and a track surface set to 'fast' (not optimum) Believe Erik is on similar pace but just test laps so far to get a feel for the car and see how good the skins looked.  Smiley
Hard braking is an issue in these cars with their old school brakes, so don't stomp on the stop pedal or you will lock up and flat spot them.

Race advert posted at the Kunos site, will do No-grip later if allowed. Maybe if one or two of you could create some 'chatter/intention to race' in there it can create some interest. I always think an empty thread isn't too stimulating to others sitting on the fence.

I'll have the Jagermeister car pls  Grin.

These things are bloody hard to be consistent in. After exiting turn 1, I already have to turn in for the old hairpin, that is how understeery they are  Tongue
