Moderator's Report

First UKGPL win for Carlos. Johnny P was second & Dave Curtis on the podium. Fastest man on track was Bastian, also setting pole in qualifying - but a few too many mistakes when it mattered.
No reported incidents & all Stop & Gos complied with.

Cant get the track to install , should I unzip the exe straight into my GPL directory or as I usually do , unzip it to a temp dir  ? (which for some reason  i cannot ) usually unzip to "temp" then run the installer from there but  cant get it to unzip !

A couple of basic tips - it's best to unzip stuff to a temporary folder, and see what you're getting, before blindly adding to whatever workings are working.  You can make new temp folders, and delete old ones.  Temp_1, Temp_2, . . .   If unzip doesn't produce the goods, try drag and drop to your temp folder.   If the files won't copy, try another unzip program?  Try downloading again, try taking an aspirin, try banging the wall with your head, as best befits your preference. taz

Bernie, assuming you downloaded GPLEA_SNETT67.exe:

Execute, point to  a temp directory....trackinstall.exe and readme.txt will be extracted...then execute trackinstall, choose GPL directory and the track will install...

I'm sorry guys, but I stop gpl. I'm tired of repeat freeze screens, I was leading the race, I am desillusioned.
I will return when connections will again become stable.
I have never experienced these problems in 2013 and 2014. I run offline now.
Good luck all for the champ, you will remain my friends !

forum is dead slow to load here to , no probs with Igor or snetterton though one or two cars warping in front of me made life interesting to say the least  Roll Eyes

I had a screen freeze with 18 laps left to race. Despite the problems, I had lots of side by side racing, and it looked like more to come in the second half. I was surprised to see so many faster cars fall back to the back of the pack during the race. Each time, I intended to let them pull me along to get faster lap times, but did not work out.

Congrats Carlos!

Axel

I dont ever recall freezes at Snetterton ,

This was 1st time here for me using  60fps mod , I had no graphics problems at all,  but I am running with reduced mirror detail , shorter draw distance and no smoke skiddies & etc. for on line races .

How much this recent spate of crashes , screen freeze , disco's etc. is down to us using the 60 fps or not i do not know , but I suspect its a big chunk of the recent problems we have all been having  .

The quote comes from track black-list of the "no 60fps" junkies of GPLRacer forums!

I was having a great race until lap 2 ! following Martin at a safe distance who promptly lost it on braking for the hairpin , he half spun , I drove round the back of him but the old evil warp contact kicked me back end round ,I drove off on the grass to re join the track but couldn't see the hidden barrier and got stuck in no mans land , had to wait for everyone to pass ( thanks for waving Burt) before I could s/r then after the pit in I was almost a lap behind . pleased to be able to claw back to a reasonable position after another  lonely race .

Grats to the podium and all finishers . Shame about the disco's,  would hate to see any of these guys get to depressed and give up .

Not much to cheer abouts hereabouts.  A good start, with an undertaking to move up the field, while remaining on the track.  But a spin caused by a brief frame freeze, required a spin turn whilst being pinned at the hairpin, from cars on both sides!  Sorry to see a Bernie bump leading him astray.  I didn't know catch fencing had been invented as early as the 1960's?

With a spot of disco mania ahead, I perambulated up to fourth without much company, until gremlinitis slowed my progress - beached it on the banking, in the last corner.  A full tank of fuel, in such competitive company, gave my back foot to those dastardly upper handed rivals who remained, to take advantage.  The battle was lost. Huh
