Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

Bastian Grupp finishes first in a Brabham, passing Bernie Darwin in the last lap. Bastian also set the fastest lap of the race. Bernie had to settle for second in the Brabham. Dave Curtis rounds out the podium in a Honda.

After the race the moderators have decided to give Bastian a 1 place penalty meaning Bernie will inherit the win.

Heartbreak for Polesitter Ronnie Nilsson, in a Lotus, who suffered from incidents without his own fault and had to retire after 3 laps. Ultimately Ronnie has been Disqualified for failing to do a Stop & Go after his reset.

Server replay time: 0

After his reset early on at 3m47s, Ronnie did not do a S&G in the laps after, until he had to retire. Martin and Walter retired in the laps they did a reset. Other S&Gs were performed correctly.

  • Ronnie Nilsson — Failing to take Stop & Go after Shift-R — excluded

Server replay time: 0h02m15s

Francesco goes off track, and reverses on track with cars coming up behind. Pierre can\'t avoid Fran, and also Michael who partly lost control can\'t avoid both Fran and Pierre. All three cars can continue, without damage. This was clearly a bad rejoin by Francesco.

After Michael gains control he also reverses on track and Billy just could avoid him. Especially Bernie and Billy did a fantastic job at this incident avoiding carnage.

Before you rejoin, please take care and be sure not to impede other drivers nor reversing on the racing line.

Server replay time: 0h03m18s

Martin Hunt loses control and goes off at Adenauer Forst, and bounces back on the track just when Ronnie comes along and he cannot avoid Martin. There was no lack of care by Ronnie nor Martin was reckless or inconsiderate. Martin lost control, and Ronnie was a victim. Martin was able to continue, Ronnie had to do a reset.

Server replay time: 0h31m15s

Bastian is following Ronnie, and rearends him. There was no intention to make a pass, Bastian simply got caught out by Ronnie\'s line and speed. Ronnie had about the same speed at that turn as in previous laps, but it seems also due to his tight line he was about 15-20mph slower there than Bastian normally goes at that point. Bastian tried to steer away at the last point but the speed difference is too much and the cars make contact. Ronnie had to retire, and Bastian was able to continue.

When you are gaining on someone it\'s best not to follow too close in a tight section, when you don\'t know the speed of the car in front. In this case the speed difference was substantial.

Season 29 Privateers Trophy - Round 04 - Nürburgring

For the fourth round of the season we move to Germany to race at the legendary Nürburgring - Nordschleife. Since its construction (1925 - 1927), the Nordschleife has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forests. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 even concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 pilot Sir John Young Jackie Stewart – after all a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name which it will probably never lose: Green Hell (Grüne Hölle).

Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the driver and put vehicles to a hard test.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report.

The chassis token system is explained on the Privateers standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

As a poor and humble reservist, how many tokens will I dispose of to start at my beloved  Nurburgring ? The Championship Score Table doesn't say anything.

AFAIK you only attended WG race so far, in the BT24.

You got 10 tokens for season start, 10 tokens for the racestart, minus 10 tokens for the Brabham. So now you have 10 tokens (and will get another 10 tokens for racestart Ring).

Good point Fran, I will discuss with the other moderators/server starters, and get back on that topic.

The pitlane will be slightly altered, but the outlap will NOT be timed...we have enough time to set a qualifying time...

But a full outlap takes  nearly 10mins;  & that's before going back to the pits for one of the replacement cars!
