Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
A dominant win by Tristan with Cookie securing a fine second place after a brilliant recovery drive. Sam managed to fend off the rest of the field to grab the final podium place.

Server replay time: 0h02m18s

Lap 1 - Druids - Francesco Molteni , Philippe Girard and Bastian Grupp
Bastian looses the rear and ends up on the in-field and bounces over a bush. He tries to rejoin but in his haste he applies too much power on the grass and spins into the path of the following cars. Francesco can\'t avoid making contact and he crashes out of the race losing two wheels in the process. Philippe can\'t avoid contact either but fortunately he managed to slow down enough to escape catastrophic damage and he can continue. Bastian can also continue, only Francesco is out of the race.

Francesco did absolutely nothing wrong.

Philippe did absolutely nothing wrong.

The spin was a genuine mistake but Bastian was clearly at fault, he should have rejoined more carefully. Having bounced over the bush he should have applied the power gently and eased his way back onto the track.

Season 29 Historic Trophy - Round 4 – Oulton Park

The fourth race in the Historic series takes us to Oulton Park in Cheshire, England; the home of the Gold Cup. The Gold Cup was a prize originally awarded to the winner of a non-championship Formula One race held annually at Oulton Park. First ran in 1954, Stirling Moss won the cup and he would go on the win it four more times. Although the race regularly attracted the top teams from across Britain and Europe, the increasing costs of F1 and more countries wishing to have their own Grand Prix, the Gold Cup fell by wayside with last true F1 race in 1972. The Gold Cup would continue albeit with different formulaes; Formula 5000, Formula 3000; British Formula One through to British GT and British Touring Cars. Since 2003, the Gold Cup meeting is an event run by the Historic Sports Car Club.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

All races will be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

This race is for cars with 2 Litre engines.

Phew, I am beat.

Managed to grab pole which was a pleasant surprise and also bagged my first podium in donkey's years. Just a shame it wasn't the top step  Grin.

Started poorly off the line and dropped to 4th and proceeded to have excellent battles with Dean, Axel and Tris in particular. Though I battled for the lead early on I just didn't have the race pace to sustain my fight for 1st place and a half-spin mid race removed any chance of glory.

Congrats to Tris for a fine win and to Axel for a great recovery drive. Well done to all other finishers  Cool.

Watched the replay, and must say excellent job on the start, everyone. No dramas, no one diving into gaps that weren't going to be there when they arrived, and all survived (for a few more corners, at least). Let's do this more often.  Smiley

I have to say that I was disappointed at the start!!!  Undecided

I was relying on 3 or more cars taking themselves out of the race on lap 1, so that I could move up the field and challenge for a podium place.
Because you guys are not consistent in causing mayhem at T1, I had to drive really hard to make up places by ACTUALLY OVERTAKING OTHER CARS!!!! The strain proved too much and I ran wide and ripped a wheel off after about 12 laps.

This makes life very difficult for me, so please can you post pre race to let me know if you intend to drive carefully and maintain a full grid, or risk a suicidal overtake at T1 and remove half of the field. I think it is just not fair that I cannot rely on gaining 3 or 4 free places when planning my stragety.  Roll Eyes

This is going to ruin my season unless you lot get more consistent.  Grin

In UKGPL league, I am not pushing so hard during qually (usually I'm doing qually with full tank).
So I am quite sure racers behind me on the grid (when there are) will not be able to be quicker than me during all the race except if they're taking big risks.

That's what happened to the 2 drivers just behind me on the grid, they were taking a quick start, quickly overtaking me ...and almost so quickly retired from the race after 1 and 4 laps ... !

Sorry for the melee I caused in the L1 Lodge Corner  I Am Not Worthy

Was imo caused by an avoiding action, when I was forced to take a wider line....

I am not native english speaking!

I have not been able to drive my normal line there, as the inside was covered.
