Season 29 - Friday F2 Trophy - Round 9 - Spa 67

This race will be at Spa67, the classic track with new layout for GPL. This is the long awaited update to the Papy original. Perhaps THE classic Grand Prix circuit, the original triangular shaped course was designed in 1920 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem. It used public roads between the towns of Spa, Malmedy and Stavelot.  The course was extremely fast and was made even faster in 1939 with the introduction of the famous Eau Rouge section.  The circuit was completely revised and shortened for the 1981 Belgian Grand Prix but it is the classic 60's 8.761 mile version of the track that we will use for this race.

This version of the circuit was used between 1946 and 1970 and corners like Eau Rouge, Burnenville and particularly Masta presented the drivers with exceptional challenges. Due to the combination of high speed, length and lack of any possible run off, the circuit was very dangerous and claimed the lives of many drivers.

In S29 we will race F2 and Sport Car mods alternating.
This Trophy is intented as a fun series, so keep the fairness high and respect drivers with different skills.  Wink

Handicapping:
Heavies - have allways free car choice.
Lights   -  each F2 car can be used only once! Only one GT can be used twice!
Any illegal use of a car will be a DQ! So make shure you have a plan Wink

Drivers must complete 50% of the race distance to score.
ONE reset is allowed but the Shift R must be followed by a Stop & Go in the pit lane within TWO laps.

Please check the Season 29 pages for details regarding rules and the Friday Trophy pages in particular.

Race List =  IGOR

Race date = 04-12-2015
GPL mod = F2
60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod
Track dir = Spa67
Qualification = 20:45  UK time -> 45min
Race = race starts at ~21:30 UK time
Race length = ~45 min -> 12 laps

Please restrict chat to emergency messages only, including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.
Using the "no letterbox" patch makes chat messages in car obsolete, so you better uncheck it in GPL options Wink

There will be moderation only for reported incidents. Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

GLA and have FUN

Fun race for me, sometimes timed my attemps to pass wrongly and also had a few miscommunications with both Axel and Tommie when both cars gave in side by side, especially before Stavelot...at some point I was laughing out loud...

Early on we lost Dean who put a wheel on the grass...after I passed Axel just before Masta I assume he followed close (which is very hard there) and lost some time...after that it was changing the lead with Tommie, and we both drove carefully and courteous...

Then to my astonishment Axel was suddenly back at the front and drove straight to the lead, before he braked too late at La Source I think...it wasn't my intention to push you into a mistake, but maybe I was too agressive...if anything you deserved to win this race, for sure the fastest car today, very slick Wink

Last lap got the right position for Blanchimont, despite putting 2 wheels off Tommie also was compromised there trying to get a run on me...then was safe at the inside line at La Source...

Well done Tommie and Axel, and finishers...

I had thought I was well clear of Cookie there lap 1 (was worried I'd chopped him a bit), but was just you two being too cautious that gave me a much bigger gap coming out than I'd expected. Knew it wasn't going to last long here, anyway.  Cheesy

I'd never investigated that ditch (on the left into La Source) before. Deeper than it looks, turns out, and grabby, too, and then trees and poles and all kinds of crap to ruin your day with (I knew those were there from previous "reconnaissance"). Sorry to those affected behind, Doni especially.  Embarrassed

After the reset, caught up with an unexpectedly slow Billy, and fumbled that completely. More wheels lost, another shift-r (bye bye points, but I get to race a bit at least), only to surprise Bastian, who fumbled as well. Tough break, as I think it ended his day.   Sad

And thanks to Doni for being that ideal distance ahead, and just fast enough, to give me the perfect draft lap 11, fastest ever 67F2 lap here, it turns out. :trophy:

Impressed by the time of all other compared to my time, not better than 3,46.Despite i have done the partial release of the gas few time my speed was low.Compared to a medium time of 3,40(Reinier) i lost   in the first and fourth  sector ,2" second for each.
I can't immage the next race with the GT!The only target is to finish the race.

terrible race with FPS Rate about 20.

I hit Doni and Dean. Fortunately Doni was already broken.
But when i wanted to pass slowly driving Dean i got in the flat out corner on the inside gras and lost control.
that was a terrible mistake, sorry once more.

I Just see you were out already ? puuh....

Congrats Rob, Tom, Axel!

I'm recovering. I made a save in the turn before Stavelot that would have surely killed me the week before. Sorry for laying down a smokescreen like that Dave. It was that or hit Axel. Smiley The only way I could pass Dave was following Tom and Axel by him on the Masta straight. Without the tow it would have taken me a long time to find my way past Dave.

I had some fun. Once I ran wide at Blanchimont I thought it best to rest my eye. Until I've recovered I'll continue to limit driving time.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the fun.
