Not much for me to report on the race.  I saw Roger a couple of times as he passed me, after he had problems and went off the track.  I was no competition for him, the Mac was fast out of the corners and down the straight but he lost me in the twisties.  About lap 13/14 the car started understeering badly into the corners, so I tried to compensate by getting out of the corners faster but then went into oversteer on exit.  Had two brushes with the walls about lap 18 or so and after that was pulling to the right.  Decided to just deal with it and finish.  Think I was lapped by everyone starting about that time..
Congrats to the podium Ziu, Erling and John and big grats to my partner Ziu for taking the championship of the series and Erling for 2nd and Geoff for 3rd.   I know most of you like these cars but not me.  Reflex's just too slow I think, that's my excuse anyway....

But if they come back will join in anyway!!!!!!!!!!!

A great race for me. Qualified with a very high 1:36 which was pretty close to matching my PB which still put me over 2 full seconds behind Ziu who posted an amazing 1:34.6 and Erling who was the best part of 0.75s up the road but I was a healthy 1.2s ahead of Geoffers which surprised me.

Got my legendary blistering start. I would like to say these come naturally, but in fact I do practice them and every car is different. It took me a good many attempts when I switched from the Eagle to the Ferrari before I was comfortable. The secret (At least for me) is finding the edge of wheelspin. I floor it initially but almost immediately back off until I can "feel" the rears finding grip and then "ride" the feeling until I slot it into 2nd. Hard to describe and I wish I could do it in GPL cars. Result was I slipped between Erling and Ziu and was leading by the 1st turn.

I'm in no confusion as to where I am in the food chain regarding driving skills and knew I was in exalted company and somewhat out of my depth. Both Ziu and Erling were quickly on my case but seemed to be tripping each other up occasionally and I somehow stayed in front for a lot longer than I expected. They were all over me through the sequence of left/right turns towards the end of the lap but I always managed to get a much better exit out of the final turn. Eventually though on the run down to the hairpin on lap 15 I lost Ziu in my mirrors. That could only mean 1 thing he was coming up on the inside. A quick glance confirmed my worse fears and I had to stay wide allowing him through. Once free he extended his lead at the rate of about a second per lap and I now had a very interested Erling climbing all over my gearbox. As the fuel burned off the handling took a turn for the worse and this combined with me having to push further and harder into corners to keep ahead meant I knew it was all going to end badly. Sure enough on lap 21 I went into the hairpin way too fast, drifted well wide and hit the wall hard on the exit which let Erling through. initially gave chase but it was obvious something wasn't quite right. The steering seemed straight enough but I now had a rhythmic "Knock through the wheel particularly noticeable on the straights and a tendency to oversteer on right handers and understeer on lefts. I checked Prib and saw I had a very comfortable cushion over Roguk but was losing time to Erling by around 2 seconds a lap. Continued to push as hard as I dared in the vain hope the 2 in front might make a mistake but lap times were now down in the 1:39's and I had a very lonely last few laps.

But for the most part I thoroughly enjoyed holding up Ziu and Erling for the 1st half of the race and managed to play to my strengths, which unfortunately were no match for their strengths over race distance.

Congrats to Ziu on the championship and Erling and Geoffers for 2nd and 3rd spots.

I shall miss these.. I have to admit at being extremely sceptical originally being a die hard GPL fan and despite (Or perhaps because of) the grip and speed they do allow for some close racing.

I know Tony mentioned he was going to contact the conversion team for a few tweaks.

I hope we will see them again.

No need to put yourself down John - until you damaged your car, we were very equal in terms of laptimes.  Ziu of course is in a class of his own  Smiley

Thanks for the tips regarding starting. Must see if I can somehow make the technique work - would be nice not to be completely mugged at every start  Wink

Cheers,
Erling
