Results and replay now posted.

I'm going away to re-think the format of the remaining races in this series.

I'm going away to re-think the format of the remaining races in this series.

I said it, but it's a difficult task to find a car with the same times as the Cooper S, but we were running really fast today. If we take the best time from ABB (LowGuard): 1:46.189
My guess was NSU TT, but it's approximately 1 sec faster than the Cooper S: 1:45.299

Thanks Josè  Cheesy

Two nice ones for me. Last place doesn't matter. Only surviving Skoda twice  Grin. The Skoda is not that fast but fun to drive and I could improve to times below 1:50 in the
closing stages of race2.  Smiley

The NSU in my opinion would be a nice addition to the grid, maybe also the R8 Gordini , but I would like to see the Skoda still included.

BTW - at the moment there are lots of new cars (BLT, Team Protobuilders and others) released (and still to come) and skins over at NoGrip and also at Evolution Modding - so maybe there'll be more choices.

Nice race, nice turnout, thanks Tony and all involved for all your efforts.

CU next week.

Well that did not work out too well!

I knew that I was faster in the Mini by about 1.5secs, but hey!!! I always like a challenge, so I opted to take the Skoda and see just how it would compare. maybe changing back to the Mini for the second race if I was 3 laps behind Roll Eyes

I was all set to go for a qualli lap in race 1 and my daughter phoned and insisted on telling me her life history, which strangely enough I had a fair idea about. By the time I had diplomatically passed the phone to my wife and returned to the computer.........you lot had started without me!!!  censored censored

I sat there kicking my heels whilst you all had fun and waited for the 2nd race.
Do I take a Mini or the Skoda???  awww shucks" lets do the Skoda thing again I decided.
Quali went well and I was far higher on the grid than I expected with a PB. The start was good and I got a sneaky run up the inside to T1 and stole a place . I witnessed a few exchanges of door mirrors and paint samples through laps 1 & 2 and gained a few places as a result.

It was clear that the Mini was the faster car around here and I was losing ground on every straight, but provided I kept the lines tidy I could just about keep up through the corners.
For about 6 laps I was working the wheels off that Skoda to try and stay in touch with the leading bunch, but slowly they were easing away and more scary was a recovering Erling closing in from behind!!

The inevitable happened and he eased past on the straight, but I was determined to make his life difficult if I could and threw that weedy Skoda into his slipstream...is a Mini big enough to create slipstream??

Maybe I was trying just a little too hard when I put a rear wheel on the grass and the car snapped around and hit the concrete bridge. Despite dipping the clutch immediately the engine stalled and that was it with no way of re starting a stalled Skoda the race was over for me.
Great fun whilst it lasted, just a bit miffed that I did not get it to the finish, and I think I dipped into the 1:47's which was satisfying.

Grats to the podium guys and all finishers.....might have to re think the Skoda for future races as it is definitely down on pace against those Minis even if it is fun to drive.

Sorry Erling i bump you, not good day for me. I m tired to racing, sorry again.

No worries Ziu; just a racing incident.

Liked the Skoda, but with a 1:49.3 time as pb, I couldn't ignore that I was 2 secs faster in the Mini (before my pb improvements in qual) - in this Intergalactic Cup, I need all the help I can get..  Wink

Happy with qual in both races, as I set a new pb in both.

Race 1:
5th on grid.  Hold clutch depressed and revs up, as countdown goes below 10 secs. It reaches 'GO'; I let out the clutch, press the accelerator harder and... Nothing!!   scared scared   I had forgotten to select a gear.. censored  By the time I got going and reached T1, I was down to 11th.  Made up places and caught up to 'The Red Trio' (Bob, Matt & Ziu)  Got past all of them; Ziu when he went off at T1.  Kept him behind for a couple of laps, but then a less than stellar line through the final chicane by me let him past, as he carried more momentum down the start/finish straight.  Chased him hard for the rest of the race. Got alongside a couple of times, but had to back off to avoid incident, so he stayed in front till the end.

Race 2:
4th on grid and a better start - managed to keep my 4th, but at T1, no less than 3 cars squeezed past on the inside. Reclaimed a couple of places on L1, but didn't help much, as I got bumped off at T1 the next lap and dropped from 5th to 10th.  Again made up places and eventually caught Clive. Some slipstreaming helped me past, and it looked like we could have a good scrap, but then his engine noise suddenly disappeared and I caught a glimpse of his wildly spinning car in my mirror  Sad  Bad luck Clive; looked in replay like you became a victim of that vicious snap oversteer the Skoda is prone to (rear engine antics ?)

Surprised to see Geoffers up ahead; he must have had an incident, as he was notably faster than me. No chance of catching him then and he slowly pulled away.  Start of final lap, I passed a recovering red Mini at T1. "Hmm, who is that ?" Activate driver tags and look behind: "Uh oh, it's Jose!"  Shocked  Could I possibly keep him behind for the rest of the lap ?  Well, I could certainly try.. Grin  Managed - only just; it was bloody close right to the finish.

Grats to podiums in both races and thanks to Tony.  Compliments also to Pelle for the great-looking cars.

Did have a strange problem with Mini #40 though.  Looks like a Gulf coloured Mini in my garage, but in race and replay, it's a Rothmans Mini, like KAD Mini #40. Was also listed as a KAD Mini in race, although it didn't appear to be faster than the others.  Got mismatch messages from drivers using it too.  Any ideas what could be wrong ?

Cheers,
Erling

Sounds like a file name clash, probably need to remove the KAD from your install.

Some great racing as always in Minis, just not the results to go with it.

1st race, I made a couple of mistakes in the early laps which let Ati & Jose get away. Gradually reeled Jose in & got ahead but couldn't shake him off, unfortunately ended with a coming together on the final lap & me disappearing over the bank into the trees  Shocked

Race 2 was more intense. Grabbed the lead half way round lap 1 & held on to it for several laps with Ati & Jose snapping at my heels. A grassy moment at the final turn let Ati through but I managed to stay glued to his bumper, too close actually as I rear-ended him at T2 a couple of laps later  Roll Eyes. Justice was done though as I came off worst & spun off. Dropped me to 5th, although with Jose going off on the final lap I came home 4th.

Congrats to Ati on 2 fine wins  clap

Cya all at Zandvoort.
