Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Early race start time.

This is a very interesting choice of cars. One Front engine FWD, the other Rear engine RWD. Should have very different handling characteristics.

I might get tempted to go and buy a Mini Cooper S again if I have too much fun in this virtual one. I’m probably safe though. It takes me about five minutes to manoeuvre myself into the cockpit of a classic sports car these days.  wheelchair

this question has a familiar ring to it...............
where should I find the new Mini's?     in Extra Cars, TC 65?
I have deleted the original Mini file as per the Read Me file, but I still get "car not present on server" if I select ANY mini.  The Skoda works fine...and I have yet to try the Abarth.

I cannot wait to get my new PC running and have clean installs for all carsets, hopefully that will stop this re-curring problem!

Oh, I never read the read-me, so didn't delete anything, just added the new Mini files in TC65. Still have all the original Minis & seems to work OK

sounds reasonable, These are not new cars, I think they are just extra skins, they drive the same and have the same pace
as the standard ones.

I've started the server, what's the normal procedure for race 2. Does the server get restarted or do you all vote to end practice and move to qually?

I'm guessing that at the end of race 1 everyone leaves and then rejoins with a new car if they wish to change for race 2. Session can then be voted through when it's time for quali. I think that's the way it's been done in the past but as I say, I'm only guessing.

Sorry I could not join you guys for the Brands race,...I tried, and tried!!!!!

All mini options resulted in "car not present on server". the Fiat was the same result.

the only car that appeared to load was the Skoda,  but I had a repeating loop of Ati loading....Maiporloading....Senyorlobo loading and I just could not join the fun. On one occasion I punched the chequered flag button and materialised in the Skoda in pitlane. No sound and controls were just wrong.

I did just catch the drivers board and it showed Ati, maipor and Jose as driving Z28 Camaro's??? looks like I have wrong car files in the wrong place again.  Undecided

I am thinking that I will miss out on any series that fails to run atm, and when I get a bigger better PC I will have separate installs for the different series. Until then I will save myself the grief and frustration censored hang

Have fun guys

Clive

1/ Make sure you reinstall the original Minis, the files will probably be needed to run the add-on cars.

2/ From the Wide-arch Mini download, unpack somewhere, then open the folder until you get to the one that says 'Gamedata', then put this in your main GTL folder & allow to merge with existing 'Gamedata' folder when it asks. Then allow 'copy & replace' if it asks that.

Should all work fine then.

Well, I walked away from that in disgust... too many Cut Track warnings, all in the same place the final one with only 1 wheel off the track (S&G). I don't mind being penalised when I do something wrong but that was simply annoying..

Sorry to hear about your troubles Clive; do hope you get it fixed with the new PC.

Race 1:
Complete screw up.  Apparent immediately at the start that something was horribly wrong with my gearing - was redlined in 4th before T1. No choice but to exit back to the garage, before I messed up somebody else's race.  Turned out I had mistakenly loaded my Mini setup for the Skoda  Roll Eyes

Race 2:
Surprised that not everyone switched to Minis in this unrestricted race. Not that it mattered much though; the Alien Abarth Duo still beat everyone else bar Geoffers, and he's halfways alien too so don't really count...  Wink

Surprised also to be 2nd on the grid, but knew it would last only to the flag dropped.  Getting the Mini off the line is a lost cause for me. No matter how much I redline it in 1st, it always, always bogs down when I shift to 2nd.  Sure enough the two Abarths behind me shot past, relegating me to 4th.

What followed was a completely static race. Strangely intense and boring at the same time - intense because I had to go as fast as I could, without screwing up, and that is a challenge for me through Brand's complex curves.  Boring because nothing happened.  I kept pace with Jose & Ati in front of me, and only very slowly stretched the gap back to Bob behind me.  Only on the last lap did I briefly get ahead of Jose a couple of times, but it forced me off the racing line, so Jose easily took back the position. Through some of the final corners, I could have gone faster than him, but his car was where I'd have to place mine to exploit it, so had to back off instead.

Grats to the podiums in both races.

Cheers,
Erling

Couple of contrasting races at Brands  Roll Eyes

Like Erling I screwed up the first race. Inexplicably just before the start I pressed the 'space bar' on the keyboard to look behind. No problem you may think, except the 'space bar' is my key for the pit speed limiter, so consequently the car accelerated OK in 1st but when I changed to 2nd, no acceleration. Until I realised what I had done!  oops  By now half the field had gone by, but luckily 2 or 3 cars ran wide at T1 & I recovered to 4th place. Race wasn't to last much longer though as I spun at Clearways on lap 2 & the engine stopped, of course there is no starter on the Skoda so race over.

2nd race I went back to the Mini & qualified on pole. Race was made easier by Jose & Ati sticking with the Abarths, so after I got ahead of the fast starting Ati I was able to pull away to a fairly comfortable win.

Congrats to those on the podiums  clap clap clap, cya in the TransAm cars again next week.
