Erling, the narrow vertical bars, by the tyre temperature blocks are for showing brake wear. With weight transfer to the outer front outside corner of the car at the hairpin not only the front right tyre get most wear but also the right front brake.
My front right had almost gone into the red by the end of the race and had been snatching for the last 10 or so laps. The effect is to lock up the right front brake causing the car to pull right and can cause a spin even.
The only way, I've found, is to brake lighter and earlier.
Thanks Bill, but are you certain the bars indicate brake wear ? I've always taken the outer bars to represent tyre wear, and the inner ones to be brake temperature.
Looked at Vitumo.de and found this:
MoTeC Data
Tyretemperatures (In/Mid/Out)
Tyrewear
Tyrepressure
Enginetemperatures (Water/Oil)
Braketemperatures
Engine Health
They don't mention brake wear, but that may be an omission of course.
Cheers,
Erling
Thanks Erling, done my race consumtion/wear tests on my mini 970S at Monza760 10km with the following results with full fuel load
Water and Oil temps went up to 62 Deg
Engine health 99% dropped to 98%
Top row if figures clearly edge, mid inner tyre temps0
20 20 20 20 20 20 at start
61 63 62 58 59 57 at end of test
0.60 86 86 0.45 at end of test front tyre wear and brake temps (Max 175 deg braking for final corner with full fuel load - figure decreased with load) Brake temps fell to mid 20s on the outer ring of the lap.
0.09 50 50 deg 0.04 Rear Tyre wear and Brake temp when I stopped.
Hope you can make sense of this, which I've shortened due to time constraints - next time you practice make a note of the starting figures and then what happens during the practice and at the end.
From this I conclude that the thin green/orange/red bars show brake wear.
