Race: 20:40 (22 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

OK guys next up is Virginia Int. Raceway.  Are you ready to twist and turn?  This to me is a strange track for the USA.
This is the way I think it was designed.  The boss came into the track design crew's office late one Friday afternoon.  Said to the two guys we got to have this designed by the time you go home.  Plopps down the topographic map and walks out.  They are not in a good mood and wanted to get out of there, so made it with several blind turns and elevation drop off's into turns.  That'll teach em to wait until the last minute.  Another guy walks up behind them and says, Hey why don't you put some twist and turns in this area, they do.  A fourth guy walks up and says lets go have a beer.  Looks over the track and says how about at the end of that long back straight were the elevation drops off we put a blind turn and some twisties before heading to the start finish line.  They all chuckle and do so.  Roll up the track map with the topographic map and toss it on the boss's desk.  He looks it over and glances at his watch and decides to get it into the evening mail.  They build it that way never knowing that it was designed by a group of guys that just wanted to get out of the office and drink a couple of beers!!!!!!
VIR is a old track built in 1957 and raced on untill 1974 when it was shut down and turned into a cow pasture.  Then in 1999 a group got together and rebuilt it much like the old one except wider and a few run-off"s on the tight corners.  Re-opened in 2000 and still going strong with SCCA, IMSA and other big races.  Here is a link to the 1966 Trans Am event.  Qualy was done in the rain and a Mustang turned a 2:37 I think.  http://www.virhistory.com/vir/66-transam/

See you all at the track

Might be!  This was the 4th Trans Am race ever and I'm sure they would take any entry just to fill the field.  If you read some of the material you will find that they invited a few NASCAR drivers for publicity also.  They didn't fare too well however.  Back in those days NASCAR was turn left only.
Pound those curbs guys!!!!

I like the Renault 8, seems an odd car to race at a fast track, actually an odd thing to race anywhere!

Other races over here at VIR later today and Sunday. Check out http://tvracer.com/   All times Eastern USA times...Busy track this weekend, plus us on Monday.  See you all there.

Don't know if I'll be racing tonight as we've our No: 2 grandson and his dog staying with us, it depends on what time he leaves and whether I'm able to get in enough practice.

I'm walked out so another walk on the beach this morning will knacker me completely! Shocked sleep1

Spent half an hour on the server this afternoon, and realised that this was a track that I had run before, and with American muscle cars......maybe in PnG, or very early in my GTL days.

More importantly, I was glad to see Matt and Tony in there too, which kind of sets my mind at ease about joining the race tonight. I guess I am paranoid about still having internet issues Roll Eyes.
