Indeed - it looks like there were no possibilities to choose between hard, soft and intermediate tyres but to choose only between tyre producers (Goodyear, Firestone and Dunlop - Dunlop not included in the mod). Interesting. Those were the times before active sponsorship... . No idea concerning rain tyres as slicks didn't exist at that time.
Keep investigating.

Thinking about to choose only a car which was used in every particular race in reality - so no M5A for Kyalami ...

Next Mondays track  is not on the Server.

I thought my installation was OK but yesterday morning the lobby showed -5 for the number of people on the track  Roll Eyes Huh guess it's a problem with my installation, any ideas what's wrong?

Once logged on everything seemed to work OK, car handled the same as off line.  Grin

Incidentally there was one track with -4 on it, also including me there were 4 people but two drivers at 2 tracks ie 4 instead of 3!

I bought a new GTL game from gameseek.com. Install seemed to go OK but when I try to run the game (with or without Tony's mods) it says it has to reboot my PC to complete the install. During the reboot windows says there is an error and it can't load windows without doing repairs. The repairs turn out to be the removal of all of the GTL .exe files so I'm back to square one. Anyone else suffered this one? I'm running windows 7 ultimate btw

Not exactly, but GTL original game won't work on Win7 because of the starforce "protection"
I bought GTL from Steam to get around it once, or, there are hacked installs knocking around on secret sites  whistling
Your brother might be able to offer advice...

I am coming to terms with living in Water World down south these days. Back garden flooded, golf course like hippo country, also all local country walks, and I live on high ground near the top of a hill. Feel really sorry for some of those up north and in Scotland.

Due to the rain I decided to do something useful and clear out my loft, I’ve been putting it off for about the past five years. Thought it would take about two days, has taken five so far. It took about two days just to shred the old business records etc.  Amazing what can be accumulated over thirty years.

I did treat myself however to about an hour a day on GTL F1 1967 and read the SROU posts (back on topic). They were very enlightening, with some great links. I really enjoyed reading those. My old copies of Autosport and Motorsport (dating from the mid fifties to the late sixties) disappeared during a house move some thirty years ago.

I also tend to think the cars in GTL F1 are a bit too fast in reality although I really enjoy the Mod.

I tried Ati’s set up for the Lotus 49. It felt like a bucking bronco to me.  I guess it depends on what controller you use, how it is set up and you’re in game controller settings. I use a G27 that I have set up to feel as realistic as I can and use the H gear change.  I would point out that I have no alien ancestors so that might a difference.

The cars I have tried are the McLaren M5A: 1:12:08, Brabham BT24: 1:13:03 and Lotus 49: 1:13:28 (with a setup I worked out) all with a qualifying set up. I think I will take the McLaren as it is the car I have driven the most although I see it did not take part in the RSA GP in 1967.

Thanks to Tony and the guys who posted the article links. I am looking forward to Monday. Hope I can get somewhere near finishing the race this time.  Roll Eyes

Disk based GTL can kill Windows 7 or greater so you now have a silver mug holder.

It's easy enough to uninstall the Starforce drivers then get hold of the dodgy .exe. There are some details about removing Starforce here:
http://www.gamers-crib.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10344

Or if you value your time, just buy it on Steam - it's only a fiver.

There is a .exe that already has Starforce removed  Wink

Also I have read of problems with later mods and the hacked GTL. Each to their own but I would not choose that course of action.
