Moderator's Report

After careful consideration of the multiple T1 incidents at the Monaco F1 event the moderators have decide that no one person was to blame. Several people could have driven differently and the multi car pile up could have been avoided.

We would however like to remind people that extra extra care needs to be taken with these relatively fragile F1 cars, so we ask drivers to not be so keen to push their noses up the inside
or outside of other cars, and to lift rather than desperately hang on to the position.

It is because with many of these mods, the "different" cars are all based on the same standard game car, so the game sees them as the same car.

And another thing.....

When I designate a setup as my favourite, for say a Lotus, it then tries to apply it to all the other cars as well!  Is this normal GTL or is my install a bit kranky?
Yep, I think that sounds normal. I never designate a favourite. I save each cars setup under a unique name e.g. the car it is for.

I had used the Replay numbering system in the past to save having to name replays I wished to keep, very useful.

I remember having downloaded a programme for GTL a few years ago that allowed you to deselect cars. You had the option to reselect them again whenever you wanted so no problems online. It was very handy if you had downloaded a lot of Mods and wished to race or practice against cars of your choice rather the random selection that GTL throws up. I lost it when one of my hard drives died and have never been able to find it again. I wonder if anyone knows of it and if still available online where it can be found.

This is what I use, both on the server and on my PC. very useful and highly recommended. http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=22345

Thanks Tony, I have downloaded and installed Strava’s utility. When I try to use it I get the message “Run-time error ‘9’: Subscript out of Range”.  I have Windows XP Professional on the PC I use for GTL.  I have tried experimenting with the compatibility settings but all to no avail. I don’t know if Excel is used and it is something to do with the code. If so it’s beyond my experience. Maybe it used to work in an older version of windows I had and it’s not compatible with XP and 1920x1200 pixels. I’ll have a fiddle around to see if I can find the answer.  hammer

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions, especially Tony and Matt for their PM's and files.  I now have a working version of 1967 F1 in GTL.  smartass

My G25 seems reluctant to engage correctly with the game.
I have a huge section around the "straight ahead" portion of the steering that feels as if the piece of knotted string that connects to the front wheels has been replaced with a sub standard rubber band!!

I suspect that this is more to do with the G25 profiler than GTL. But as I have thrashed GTL F1 into submission this evening, I am retiring to bed and will worry about incidentals like steering accuracy around Moanaco until tomorrow.

Once again thanks for all of your patience and help.
To show my gratitude I promise not to win any races for the first half of the season.  So when you mount the podium steps you will know that I gave you that finishing position as a thank you, and that I could have won the race but being the gentleman that I am I restrained myself .  Grin Roll Eyes angel

Hmm, used to work with Windows XP for me. I think it has a limit to the maximum no. of cars it can handle. Perhaps that is the "Subscript out of range"?

Perhaps try copying a car folder, say GTC-65, to another location, then point Car Manager at that location and see if it works them?

I managed to get it to work by messing around. Not exactly sure how but I’ll live with that. Don’t want to risk messing it up again. A problem with the page being slightly too big for the screen so that I could not access the cars at the bottom of the list but I have solved that by Auto hiding the Task Bar and dragging the List page up fractionally.  Thanks for all your help Tony.  thumbup1

I'm sure that Tony will be delighted to learn that I'm having nothing to do with this new way of messing up my F1 install.

If it ain't broke don't fix it!   Grin

Hope all the humans are going to steer better than the AI do.  They seem to be programmed to ignor track limits and when the track limit is solid they clatter about like a ball in a pinball machine.

Race distance increased by two laps.

Since I haven't made it past half distance yet, without having a badly bent car, that hardly seems to matter much.

Lappers will need extra patience for this race as it a)might not be apparent to the lapee that someone wants to pass and b) there are not many places to safely pass.

Huge penalties  hang will be awarded to anyone found to have caused an incident whilst trying to pass.

1:38.4 so far yesterday offline, had one single perfect lap last week with a pb of 1:36.9 but that's a kind of an illusion for this event.
Need to turn regularly with times around 1:40 and hoping to see the flag.

Thought I would miss this one due to real life, but it's the week after I will probably have to miss.
So I best get some practice in. I can do 35s fairly regular not really got a flow together yet and usually
bend something very easily.
