Hi Will did you 1 remove lobby text 2 register with new name and password 3 did you enter your correct email, at bottom of screen did it say playernameneverused ? did you click on login or click on the big arrow right of screen ? let us know and what screen you got next.
Quote 3.Launch GTL 4.Go to Multiplayer->Internet and click Register. Select a different Username and Password than your old one. Click the arrow (not login button) to register. If you don't get "Registration Successful" at first, try a few different usernames/passwords. 5.When you have registered successfully, you will be taken to the login screen. It will still show your old Simbin Username so you first have to replace it with your new Username and Password. If you login successfully you should then log into the Altbierbude lobby. 6.If it didn't work, try to register with a new username
1 Yes.. I removed lobby text 2 Yes.. I registered with new name and password 3 Yes.. I entered my correct email and I do not recall if it said playernameneverused... probably not. I did not click on login... I clicked on arrow to the right of the screen and it said.. registration failed: could not connect to the server

Hi Will .... go to your GT Legends folder, scroll down and remove or delete the line LOCAL_IP_LOBBY.TXT launch GTL go to multiplayer then internet, try to connect if you get login failed invalid username/password register with a new username and password then connect, in lobby look down list and you will see Simracing.org.uk Mondays you will be able to join using the correct practice or race password.
Did as instructed... but now I can't even connect to servers. Thanks for your efforts... and I will keep trying to figure this out. Let me know if you have any more ideas. Hi Will. I do sympathise. This part of GTL can be seriously stressful. When you say "I can't even connect to servers" can you tell us what error messages you see, if any? Every little bit of info you provide, helps us, help you.

No idea why not but it is worth trying again. Don't bother with a long password. Maybe just use your initials or something really short.

I tried using multiple new usernames and passwords... all I get is "registration failed: could not connect to the server"
Although this situation is extremely frustrating I will not give up and hope to figure all this out so we can meet on the the track.

Just an idea as I had/have that issue every time I try to "register" a new GTL for online gaming (10 years old original DVD): does your antivirus software allow the connection to the server? I got a.m. message each time together with a popup from my Avira (still using XP) which asks me whether I want to allow the connection to the server. Good luck.

Kurt, on a slightly unrelated matter; I pinged www.gtl-server.net last night and had a return IP of 37.59.215.248. This is not what we state in another thread under GTL Announcements. https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13595.msg244611#msg244611 I'm thinking we should delete this thread if it is miss leading/wrong. What do you think?

BTW anyone have the wrong dials last night?
Yes. Don't ask me which ones they were but they were not the usual ones with a red segment on the rev counter. Strangely the replay I have shows your car in the pits with the correct dials. Way too confusing

Way too confusing Can you see dials in other cars than your own (or the 'chosen' one in the server replay, which I believe was mine on Silverstone) ? Anyway, dials in replays have always been suspect if I'm not mistaken - in mine, they very often look (more or less) like the dials from a different car. Cheers, Erling

@ Will - For the sake of my sanity can you check something for me please?
In the folder UserData you will find a file yourname.plr. Can you open it with Notepad (or similar) and scroll thru it until you reach the Multi-player section. Look for these lines
Host IP Address= Online Server=
What do you read after the =

Will: To go with what Kurt posted. I use Win7 and had a problem one time with Windows security locking me out...Go to Control panel/SystemSecurity/click allow a program through windows firewal/scroll down and see if GTL box is checked, if not checked will not allow a connection. Just a thought, hope you get it sorted out. Sometimes can be very frustrating for sure, but you will get there!!!!
Bob M.
Edit:When I installed McAfee security it unchecked them, had a he** of a time finding the problem. Then my 16yo neighbor kid figured it out in about 3 minutes...........
