I was a little bit confused as I saw Bill cruising around in a 300SL Gullwing (Butch's mod, which I have installed in my online version of GTL too) and not in a 300 SLR  Huh.
Result say he drove #101 300 SLR so I assume all is correct and it has only been an issue between the two mods on my computer.

Six laps without big faults. After my pit stop I crashed out in one single moment of lacking in concentration.

Results to be posted tonight.

Butch's Merc is not installed on the server! So Bill could not have been driving it.

 Cool

There's a small difference between place 7 and 8 - but that doesn't matter.  Wink

Very fond of this track  Smiley

Aston worked well here last season, so seemed a safe, if somewhat unimaginative choice.  Firming up my very soft setup from last year allowed me to knock a few secs off my pb from last year.  Shaved a few tenths more off in qual so well chuffed with that.

Very surprised to almost immediately have a small gap to the rest of the pack, when the start went.  Fully expected Clive to jump me, as he mostly does when we're close on the grid.  He seemed to have dosed off however judging from the replay.

Ran wide onto the grass both entering and exiting Rudingshain village on L1, which may account for Clive's notion that he was gaining on me. Heart sank when I saw the message that he had left, early on L2. Based on qual-times, he seemed my best hope for a close race.

Could do 6 laps on a tankfull, so had a fairly narrow pit window from end of L4 to end of L6. No particular reason to pit early, so went in after L5, so that I still had enough fuel for another lap, should I somehow miss or overshoot. Fuel only, and as I was exiting, 3 cars came roaring by, dropping me to 4th.  Caught and passed Roger, and a little later John, recovering after a moment between the trees.  Caught and passed Matt the following lap, as he was recovering from a spin.  Did wonder if those Ferraris ever had to stop, as the gap was still only around 20 secs at lap 8.

Thus most of the race was a lonely affair.  Had to find a balance between going fast enough to keep it exiting, but not so fast that I risked throwing it all away.

Grats to Roger & Matt for the other podiums, and commiserations to those that met with misfortune; especially Clive  Sad

Cheers,
Erling

Sorry for the late report, Had a lot going on at work.

Was torn between the Merc and the Jag leading up to this, I felt the Merc should have been the faster choice but I surprisingly (To me) couldn't match my Jag times consistently frequently not able to find a gear I liked for some sections  so elected to chance the Jag even though it didn't really seem like the best choice. Having not managed to break the 6 minute barrier at all leading up to the race I was really chuffed to post a time of 5:58 in Q even if it was only the best of the rest with next up the grid being a full 10 seconds faster.

Got a great start and mugged Clive off the line so found myself behind Erling in his Aston. The Jag was no match though once some corners were thrown in the mix and clive soon made amends for his disastrous start and steamed past and set off in pursuit of Erling's Aston. Then onto Lap 2 and I suddenly found myself back in 2nd?? A quick look at the driver list and no Clive. Sad Matt in his 375 soon begins to make a nuisance of himself and easily gets passed somewhere on Lap 2 and I now have another 375 in my mirrors with Roguk at the wheel. Had a great tussle over the next 3 laps or so being able to extend the lead in some sections only to find him back up my a$$ in others. This went on until around Lap 6 when my tyres seemed to fall off a cliff and I touched the grass with one of the rears in the long right hander causing me to spin several times, somehow missing all the solid shrubbery and rejoining behind Roguk and Bill who had recovered a lap during my sightseeing expedition.

Ok, I need to pit now. followed Rokuk into the pits feeling  happy that I could make his life a misery on fresh tyres. Then it all went horribly wrong. (I really must practice my pit stops). To paraphrase the great Eric Morcambe I hit all the right keys but not necessarily in the right order. The result was I got a full tank of gas and after entering the pits 1 second behind Roguk and 20 seconds ahead of Bob I finally left 25 seconds behind Roguk and only 2 seconds ahead of Bob. From this point onwards any aspirations I still had for a podium went completely out of the window and I simply drive as fast as I dared. The times ahead to Roguk and Matt came down ever so slightly and I would have loved to have been part of their battle as I felt I did have the speed  had I had someone to chase. Unfortunately it wasn't to be and I bought the Jag home a distant 4th. Was pleased to knock another 2 seconds off my qualifying time during the race though.

Thanks all, congrats to the Podium and all finishers.

It was a blast as always.

John.
