Moderator's Report

SUMMARY
Doni ends up on the top spot after an eventful race with lots of incidents. Axel grabbed second place with Greg in third. All S&Gs were performed correctly but Piero\'s on lap 4 and Greg\'s on lap 22 should have been closer to the stalls. Only two incidents were reported but there did appear to be many more. The racing with the 69x cars is fast and hectic and there is still a lot to learn when it comes to getting the most enjoyment out of the racing. Incidents are an opportunity to learn but they will not be moderated if they are not reported.

Server replay time: 0h06m19s

Lap 8 - Lesmo 1 - Ronnie Nilsson and Tom van Ostade
Tommie is recovering from an earlier trip onto the grass a Parabolica whilst avoiding a spinning McLaren and is closing on Ronnie through Curva Grande and Ascari. As Ronnie brakes for Lesmo 1 he is rear ended by Tommie and retires from the race.

A check of the first 8 drivers on this lap shows the average for the division is to brake at about 175 yards from about 170 mph. Ronnie breaks for Lesmo 1 from a speed of 164 mph (slightly slower than the average for the division) at about 175 yards (the average for the division) . Tommie brakes at about 175 yards from 169 mph (close to the average in both measures).

Apart from probably having too much wing which is losing him about 15mph top speed, Ronnie did nothing wrong.
Tommie was driving at his normal line and speed and was simply caught out by the better braking performance of Ronnie\'s car.

The margins are very small here, neither driver made a serious mistake. The difference in the performance of the cars (Tommie was driving a wingless Cooper T86b whereas Ronnie was in a high down-force setup Lotus 63) was the major factor. However the responsibility for avoiding contact must reside with the following driver.

Server replay time: 0h23m04s

Lap 10 - Lesmo 2 - Dean Logan, Andreas Gebhardt, Bastian Grupp, Philippe Girard, Piero Mercaldo and Marco Mercaldo
Dean, Andreas, Bastian and Marco are fighting for position. As they approach Lesmo 2, Bastian is leading with Dean very close behind, when Bastian brakes Dean rear ends him. Andreas and Marco are further car length back and cannot avoid the resulting carnage. Piero and Philippe are several hundred yards behind but the approach speed of the 69x cars is so high they have very little time to react. Piero hits the wreckage but Philippe manages to slow enough to allow him to carefully weave his way through the inverted McLarens. Andreas, Bastian and Piero need to take shift-Rs in order to continue. Andreas and Bastian carry out their S&Gs; Piero doesn\'t but retires two laps later.

Bastian did appear to be slightly slower than on previous laps but Dean was simply too close to Bastian\'s gearbox (there is no track visible between Dean\'s steering wheel and Bastian\'s car contrary to the guidance in the GPLAC Recommended Driver Behaviour) and had no time to react. He wasn\'t trying to overtake but simply appears to be trying to position himself for a fast exit out of Lesmo 2 in order to create an overtaking opportunity on the next straight sections. There is no doubt that Dean was responsible for the incident but he deserves credit and respect for his sportsmanship in reporting the incident.

Bastian, Andreas, Philippe, Piero and Marco did nothing wrong.

Season 29 - CHAMPIONSHIP 69X  : ROUND 5 – MONZA 10K

Round 5 of our championship  will take place on the infamous Monza 10K circuit.
It’s the traditional Monza track with a banked oval which had been used for Formula 1 until 1961. Much of the race will taken in top gear & there will be plenty of opportunity for drafting.

After 4 races (and before East London moderation), Tim is leading the championship followed by Andreas and Tom.
The race will be run under INT rules and you can do one Shift+r  (only one) followed by a stop and go in the pits (Stop and Go must be taken within two laps of the incident unless on the last lap when a time penalty will be added).

We will use the patch : 60fpsV1.

Here is a question. Is the standard of driving here at UKGPL really so bad that you stand more chance of finishing a random race online with Project cars or even F1205  laugh laugh laugh

Good luck to all still running.

Epic 4 way constantly changing battle for the lead up until that point.

Guess it'll be congrats to either Doni, Axel or Greg then  Smiley

Big sorry to you Ronnie! I braked a little earlier than normal but I guess the warping caught me off guard still Sad . I got a screen freeze mid-race. Bad luck all round, although I got a good draft by somebody in a McLaren M9 in quali to start P11 Smiley . Unfortunately the warping was really bad and when there was a crash at Parabolica in lap 1 I took to the grass to avoid them and ended up in the hedge. After freeing myself I closed up on Ronnie until I messed up and we crashed Sad . After that I moved up to P12 due to attrition and just when it looked like I was about to get a tow from someone, the PC froze up. Ah well.

Race with handicup, always suspected but very visible on this track. My car was without speed ,anyone can overtake me without the possibility to realize a tow due to a speed to low.I think that the problem, like other time ,is the potentimeter,i must find a solution otherwise stop with the races.

My race was hectic to say the least. Decided to take the good old Lotus 49, hoping the engine deficit would be compensated by the lack of rear wing and low weight. It wasn't.......but I did manage to keep in contention with a good tow  Smiley.

Managed to be somewhere near the pointy end of the grid thanks to the tow in quali and when the race started, I even managed to lead half a lap early on  Shocked. Sadly not long after that me and Axel made contact and we both had a trip down the gravel at the Parabolica.

After recovering, with the slipstream long gone, I was slowly losing ground to the leaders and eventually Dave caught me in the Lotus 49b with that lovely new DFV. We had an excellent battle that lasted most of the race. Old vs. New and it was action packed! Unfortunately my shifter played silly-beggars and the blip of neutrals out of the Lesmos blew my engine  Sad.

Recovering from that and a stop in the pits, demoted me to 7th, which then resulted in battle with Marco to the finish. Just about managed to hang onto 6th place  Smiley.

Congrats to Doni for the win and podium finishers  Smiley.

Congrat Doni and Axel! Great job surviving to the finish.

That was fun. I'm still a bit more erratic than I like. I was pleased I didn't cause any real trouble. I had at least two moments that I was lucky to avoid contact. I lost track of where Sam was early in the race and cut down on him on one of the bankings. I got lucky I didn't take one or both of us out.  Embarrassed I'm not sure if I bumped Tim or not entering Parabolica just before he discoed. I was a little late braking and narrowly avoided a catastrophe. It was shame Tim was discoed shortly after that.

I got lucky to get PP. I gained an easy second in the tow. The M9A is fast on the straights. I saw 205mph/330 kmh several times. The thing would probably go faster with a longer 5th gear. Smiley The heavy beast doesn't inspire confidence entering Curva Grande or Parabolica though.

I tried to be cautious. I'm still not quite up to the task though. I did a nice job getting through the traffic when Axel got too ambitious entering Parabolica. I passed Tim once going into Curva Grande. As soon as I did that. I thought, I shouldn't pass him here. I'd guess his performance was likely superior to mine in that turn. After that I decided it's best to stay in 3rd and hope Tim and Doni quit battling so maybe we can stay ahead of a 4th place Axel. I hope I didn't surprise Axel too much when I braked too heavily for Curve Grande to let Tim and Doni pass me. For the rest of the race, I tried to take it easy. But I couldn't resist battling with Axel for a few laps later.

Late in the race, I spun again at Parabolica. It wasn't a good move entering on the right since I hadn't practiced it. I was glad Doni and Axel could avoid me. I was able to come back again though, but I had a lapse in concentration at Ascari on the last lap and clipped the guard rail. Sad I had made it back into position to make it a 3 way battle for the win. I did a stop and go on the last lap. I couldn't remember the rules regarding last lap resets or understand them exactly. From reading the rules, I'm under the impression I didn't need to do the last lap stop&go but I would be assessed a time penalty. I hope I don't lose 3rd place because because I did a s&g that wasn't required?

Thanks for the racing guys. I hope to see you next time.

BUGGY 69X MOD!

Same horror scenario like Rouen for me lots of cars warping like crazy after the start and then I was nearly alone for the next laps...
After 3 laps I was suddenly back fighting for 5th position Roll Eyes

IMO  this has to do with a bug in the MOD giving same (#12) numbers to 2 drivers! (Bob and Ray)
For the import this causes an extra hour to get it sorted...

Luckily it seems you can not collide with "ghost cars"  Roll Eyes

Sorry Sam for the bump after my faulty braking inside the Para  oops

I had a good recovery run to close up to the top three,
my tactics into the last banking did not work and Doni was the winner, grats!

PS
I modified Deans faulty quali time but had to keep the 1st position!

Ugh, first laps were brutal laggy, half the field jumping all over the place, and some disappearing for stretches at a time (I think I saw Cookie for a total of maybe 10 seconds between the start and Para, where I proceeded to outbrake myself and lose a lot of places/time).

Didn't do myself any favours after that, either, several unforced errors, thought I capped them off with punting Bas into Lesmo2 (I'm gonna report that, was impatient and sloppy, and harmed other's races, too), only to clip the 2nd bit of armco at Ascari (kept forgetting about that Tongue ) and spin trying to get past a recovering Sam layer on. 2 seconds of patience would have had me realizing that he was headed to the pits anyway.

...I did a stop and go on the last lap...

I believe that rule is there due to most tracks having the pits and startline together, where doing a s&g on the last lap is less of a penalty. As Monza10k is a different layout, I'd report myself, explain that an equally time-costly (compared to any other lap) s&g was performed, and appeal to the mercy of the court. On the other hand, it is only one position, so up to you.

grats to finishers and podium.

started in the middle of the pack and through guts & determination, bit by bit and one place at a time, managed to end up dead last. One mistake too many and it was all over. fun while it lasted Smiley

I had a 1m45s lap (or something stupid like that) in practice. I crash at the bridge before ascari very hard, car sticks in wall, and when I reset im up on banking so missing out half the track. I recons similar happened here.
