Moderator's Report

SUMMARY

The first eight laps are very exciting with the top six cars battling for position. The top three cars break free from the pack on lap 8. Dean and Tommie are able to pressure Tristan for the lead until lap 15. However, Dean and Tommie both take turns running wide at the hairpin. Tristan now has escaped, and he goes on to win the race. Tommie holds on to finish in second, and Dean is a close third.

Server replay time: 0h03m21s

Lap 2 - turn 2 - Phil is following Gareth into turn 2. He locks a wheel at corner entry and he takes the outside line for this corner. Bastian takes the inside line, but he admits that he missed his own line. Bastian\'s right rear tire makes contact with Phil\'s left front tire. The side by side contact takes Phil out. Bastian stated that there was quite a bit of space when GPL recognized the collision. However, he did not upload his client replay for the moderators to see if the actual position of his car was different than that on the server replay. After the collision, Phil retires and Bastian is able to continue for 6 more laps.

Simple Side by Side contact: In a corner, after a legitimate overtaking attempt the cars end up side by side. One driver moves over instead of staying on their own side of the track. Contact is made. Penalty for driver that moves over. The penalty would have been reduced to a Marginal Side by Side contact if one of the drivers had lost control. However, I think that both cars were in control. It is just a difficult corner for side by side racing.

Phil did absolutely nothing wrong.

Bastian unintentionally crossed the yellow line into the outside lane.

Season 29 Historic Trophy - Round 5 – Rouen

The fifth race in the Historic series takes us to Rouen in France.  From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside. The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

All races will be run at 60 frames per second – please use this patch 60fpsV2newmod.

Drivers must complete 50% of each race to score.

This race is for cars with 3 Litre engines.

Race List = IGOR
Server = UKGPL_8
IP address = look in iGOR
Race date = Tuesday 1-12-2015
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)

Race length = 22 laps (50 Minutes)
Variant = 1966 3L
60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = minimum of 30 minutes

Password see above
Replay will be here

Only reported incidents will be moderated, there is no Red Zone.

Driver lists and rules (please note the rules for the Historics are different this season) can be found on the championship standings page

Please Note: Drivers have to use at least 1 car from each of the groups (Group I, Group II and Group III on the championship standings page).  Some drivers have already used 2 Group III cars (Ronnie, Philippe and Bastian) which only leaves 3 races for them to use a Group I and Group II car.

gpl crashes to desktop with 66mod using 60 fpsnewmod. I use 3d3v2 and win 8.1
66 works fine at 36fps and 60fpsnew mod has worked with other mods. I have re-installed the mod, verson1.
any ideas/help welcome.

Hi Gareth

I've just checked and your registration has been processed so you should be able to see the password.

WRT the CTD try OpenGL V2 and 60fpsv2newmod

That combination should work - it does for me on Win7

Gareth try 60fpsv1 - there should be a guide somewhere on here for making the transfer to 60fpsv2newmod, but until recently we were using v1 as a lot of us couldn't get v2newmod working with 66s. It was an issue with the patch application orders I think (the newer installs didn't seem to have the trouble).

Gareth: as ID said, the order the patches are applied apparently makes a difference. FWIW, I use OGLv2 so that Prib works (it doesn't like D3Dv2, afaik).

Mods: knowing which upcoming races are for 2L and which are for 3L would help in the chassis planning dept., especially with the various groups restriction this season. Thanks.

edit: sorry, list of 3L races is in this season's Monza race thread here: https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13335.msg240448#msg240448.

Finally some point,a good race with no incident.The only incident was the release of the steering wheel  from the table when i was in the second curve after the start and with Andreas behind.Not a good feeling to drive with the steering w. in the hands and free.

Not my finest hour. Must apologise to Axel for our coming together at Six-Freres. I went for a gap that was too opportunistic in hindsight. You were clearly pre-occupied with other cars. Glad too see you were able to continue. After that, it was an error-strewn run to 5th place. Congrats to Trist, Tom and Dean  Smiley.

:doh: Yup, thanks.  Cheesy

Back on topic: that has to be the tensest race I've ever had, with some of the closest racing (without contact, unbelieveably imo, in some cases  Shocked) I've seen. Thought I had a good shot at 2nd for a few laps, until I Marco'd (unintentional neutral in the hairpin  Wink), and that let Tommie by. Could stay with him, but without a mistake, couldn't get by, and then when he started picking up draft from lappers, couldn't close on him sufficient for last-lap lunge somewhere. But any race I'm only 2 seconds behind a winning Tris has to count in my "good" ones.  Smiley

Sorry to Phil,

I drove over your wheel.
I was watching what you are doing and slided a bit too wide and missed my own Line.
It was quite a bit of space when GPL recognized a collision.

Later in the race, my engine exploded.
