For some reason I was sure that qual will start at 21:30. Much to my surprise chat room was empty (except Iestyn) at 21:27, and the server was in last minute of qual. So I plugged my wheel, and joined in hurry. As I had no practice, I stood in the garage with default setup. Changed a few things, set fuel, went to the grid and crossed my fingers Cheesy As I could not try the track since its release I expected to see the grid on the back straight like on the 24h version. It was not there, so I felt we will have a full warm up lap. My guess was right Smiley So it was in lap 2 when I realized that my gears were too long, and the engine topped at 8000 rpm - touching 300 km/h only in a tow... That really determined my race, as compared to pole lap I was 3 sec slower Cheesy Anyway I decided to finish the race with no more than 4 laps down to winner. Later I had to retire to pits for family reasons. Congrats to the winner and all finishers! Next time I will put more attention to race details Smiley

Good fun at Daytona!  Smiley

Grats to Robert, Colin and Greg for the near-foto finish in that order.

I thought that the pacer lap was just a bit too fast and would prefer it stepped back to 100mph, svp.

I'd recommend having the pole sitter wait to gas it up til we reach the starter's stand.  This will give more runners a chance to get off the banking before throttling up.

Ach... my Rouen practising has all been in vain!  That'll teach me to look at the schedule.  Roll Eyes

Never raced at Daytona.  Downloading now.  Cool

Rouen will be not in vain as we will do it with 69X Wink

Since we've already done Rouen with 69s, how about somewhere different?  I've just downloaded Zolder - it's great.  Cool

The reason to do Rouen is the server disaster we had there with 69X  Roll Eyes

I am not shure to get a full grid next sunday...

Big Grats RF, CB & GT  thumbup1

Good fun at Daytona!  Smiley

My mind went lap 1 a little too fast, did not dare to be close like in NASCAR because, I expected there would be slowed down before T'last & would not risk a mega crash.
On the other hand, the fast speed worked well...if you had only known in hindsight.

My race setup was 100% safe (48 laps without errors) unfortunately too slowly  wacko Tried to get in touch with Cookie, but never close enough to be able to use sleep stream & Cookie disappeared...& front train too.

A really fun race & regardless of the slow setup, ends 4  Grin

Thank you for good entertainment at Daytona & Merry Christmas  censored xmas smiley

Congrats Rob and Colin!

Colin drove excellent. He was very consistent which made it fairly easy to stay close to him. I passed him as soon as I caught him. Our lap times got slower. Since I don't have any practice passing to improve our lap times, I fell in behind him hoping I could push him back to Rob. At several points I thought, "if Colin lifts entering the banking I could possibly hit him." I see in the replay he was lifting. I was cautious enough that that never caused a problem.

The finish was a bit anticlimactic. We caught 2 lapped cars near the end. I was hoping for a shot at passing on the last lap. Smiley One more lap Rob, and we'd have been all over you. I probably averaged about a 5 foot gap behind Colin. Once the race was over, I cut that distance in half on the cool down lap. No longer did I need to be concerned that I might collide with Colin. Prib read 45.05 on the cool down lap. Smiley

Thanks guys.

You know that some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same
