Ok, that's good. I think it depends on what type of GTL you have (original fixed or Steam download) as to what steps you need to take to connect to the lobby.

More fun and games getting GTL to work.... Now whatever car I choose, off line or on line it lets me select the car, show the pic of it, but when I join the session I am in a LolaT70 I can create a new driver, go through all the setups, select a Merc for e.g do some laps at East London, then I connect to the server and I am in a Lola again, and from that point on whatever track or car I choose I see the pic for what i have chose, but when i get to the track I am in the Lola. Now I rather like the Lola, but hey i can't stand clingy cars I have tried editing the .plr file and changing the lines that have the path to the Lola, and repalce all with the path to the Merc but when I fire up GTL and go to track I still get put in a Lola... Any clues?

That is astonishing The Lola isn't turned on for server use so how are you getting to see it In fact I've just checked and the Lola isn't on our server at all I have no idea what is going on.

If you cannot connect try changing your Lobby.txt file content to say
gtl-server.net
That worked for me.

Hi Tony, Same here, I was on line earlier but now the UKGTL MONDAY server is missing from the list. (All the other usual servers are visible).
I can't get on-line at all with the lobby.txt file.

If you can see my test server then you are using the correct lobby. GoldTop is running a 90 minute R3E event tonight and has probably stopped the other servers for that race. We traditionally stop all other servers when we run an event I don't always do it, as the grids are not so big that it is critical, but it the "correct procedure"

Yeah like Matt said............GT turned off the GTL server whilst his RRE race was on. Correct procedure and not a problem.

There was an RRE race tonight so GTL was turned off. Sounds like you don't need the Gtlserver.net so revert to as you were.

Aha, ok. (So much to learn, so little time) I do hope to try to make this one although if the lap times posted in the 1st post are indicative of how fast you lot will be circulating then I will be looking in my mirrors so I can get out of the way as often as I'll be looking at the track ahead. Just to stir the pot yesterday I lost my steering wheel setting when I logged on our server. The good news is my computer glitch preventing me designating my settings has gone! Wheel now reset.

Hmmm, That was interesting. I uninstalled the Lola, and got a 917k, I unistalled all that class, and I now get a mercLM55... so, I have created a new install, not a copy, a completely new install from disk. I have added only Prince George Circuit, and the 50s cars.
AT first off line I can select any track and any installed car and I get whatever car I chose when I go to track. Then, I go online to our server, choose Jag55 I see the jag in the joining screen, but when I go to track I am in the Merc55... and am now always in the Merc55 off line whatever car I select.
The matt38.plr file has this:
[ DRIVER ] Profile Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\GTC-TC-76\PORSCHE 914\370\370_SIM_TC76_PORSCHE914.CAR" Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\GTC-65\MERCEDES 300SL\SL_LM 55\LM53_SIM_GTC_MERCEDES.CAR" Sim Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\GTC-65\MERCEDES 300SL\SL_LM 55\LM53_SIM_GTC_MERCEDES.CAR" Pro Vehicle File="GAMEDATA\TEAMS\TC-65\MINI COOPER S\593-594\593_SIM_GTC_MINI.CAR" Driver Name="Ferdinand Schreckensteiner" Nationality="" Starting Driver="0" // Not used AI Controls Driver #2="0" // Not used
And if I edit it to change the car, it puts it back to this.
The trace file says I have an illegal garage.gar file:
PlayerGarage 394: USERDATA\Matt38\garage.gar is an illegal garage file plrfile.cpp 2510: Attempting to save to USERDATA\Matt38\Matt38.TMP plrfile.cpp 2533: Retcode: 0 for renaming to USERDATA\Matt38\Matt38.PLR PlayerGarage 394: USERDATA\Matt38\garage.gar is an illegal garage file PlayerGarage 394: USERDATA\Matt38\garage.gar is an illegal garage file
I assume return code 0 is no success, it usually is in Unix, it should say return code: 1 for success I expect. So something fishy with my garage, not sure why it is illegal, I didn't steal it or anyfink guv, honest.

If I delete the garage.gar file it recreates one, and I can use any car I like off line. When i go on line to either mine or the SROUK server It puts me in a Merc whatever I select. It seem that goin on line sets something, and makes the garage.gar unwritable. I will test with a different track on my test server and see what happens.
One other odd thing, I have installed the AstonDBR2, but it doesn't appear in the car list. It asks about using the original classes? somthing like that. Is that something in particular that should be chosen?
