Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 2240s

There are two parts to this incident. Part one concerns Bob M. rejoining the track in an unsafe manner. Part two involves Roguk and Phspok colliding. We will deal with Part one first.
Although Bob M. has convinced himself that his rejoining was the cause of the aforementioned collision we can not support this claim. The replay shows a clear track, from the cockpit of Bob M\\\\\\\'s car at the point of rejoining the track. He joins in a controlled manner and moves to the RHS of the track allowing enough room for others to pass and proceed\\\\\\\'s to accelerate away. We therefore judge this rejoin to be as good as could be expected in the circumstances.
Part two involves Phspok and Roguk who are fast approaching the recovering Bob M. vehicle. Phspok passes Bob M. but is hit by the Roguk who apologises but fails to slow to allow Phspok to retake his position, either immediately or on any lap after the collision. We therefore fine Roguk a three posion penalty.

For what it is worth Clive, my impressions of these cars...........

The Merc is solid and predictable and although it feels kind of heavy is deceptively quick if you can maintain the momentum
The Healey lacks a bit on top speed but handles quite well
The D type......hmmm..... I think I was seduced by the history of its real life ancestry. I cannot squeeze out anything like the quoted top speed, the brake pads appear to be made from discarded corn flake cartons and I have to drift the car through corners to maintain any speed and compensate for the widely spaced ratios in the 4 speed box. The drifting does not extend tire life! Other than that it's a fantastic car   Roll Eyes
The DBR1 works well for me on flowing circuits, but strangely I cannot hook it up at Zandvoort  Undecided
The Ace is a little unknown as I have only driven it once but for me it falls somewhere between the Merc and the Healey.

I trust that info has made your decision much clearer  wacko whistling

Still far from competitive with a PB 1:39.8 in the AC, but it's fun and I want/have to save the Jag and the DB1 for later  Roll Eyes

See you tonight.

Hi Kurt,

I know naff all about these cars so what should I be saving the Jag for?

The 55-version of the D-Type was fast at Grenzlandring last year  Cool

Thanks Clive n Kurt.

Over the first six laps all I could hear was Matt's engine.

After I pranged it I was much happier but he dropped back to give me more agro at the end.   Tongue

Grats to those Healeys on the podium. I was hoping to spoil their dominance and was a little surprised to get onto pole, even though the Merc is probably a faster car, given the alien DNA around me.

Having spent the weekend at Brands Hatch getting ( very ) sunburnt, not much sleep, too much beer and generally having a great time I had not practiced for this race.
I know the track from GPL and I opted for the Merc as I find it a very stable car and frankly I could not find the energy to work on the Healey and get it up to speed. Practice and qualli taught me that it would take 2 laps to bring the tyres up to temp, and I should have been more careful in the opening laps. Instead I tried to stay on Ziu's tail who had jumped me at the start, and fend off an eager Geoffers and the result was just dropping a wheel onto the grass at the end of the first lap which fired me across the track and into the fence.
That spoilt any chance of champagne I thought  Undecided But still 25 laps to go so I set off again at the tail of the field cursing under my breath.

The rest of the race was fun as I eased my way through the field. The big problem at Zandvoort is the lack of overtaking opportunities and there were some fun battles with Matt and oldgeezer trying to engineer an opening. By the time I had reached the dizzy heights of 4th place, and I could actually see Erling at times, my tyres were beginning to protest and I had to adapt my braking and driving to keep the car on track, A couple of minor excursions lost ground on ( and any chance of catching )  Erling and I cruised the last few laps and accepted an undeserved 4th.

Mostly enjoyed that  Smiley had fun trying to get past Clive's mobile german roadblock in the 1st few laps
Then had a few wobblies as the tyres went off. Slowed on the straight to let EC past as I was plainly getting
in his way  angel then had a disappointing last few laps after an incident where I "dropped back"
Have to check the replay, but probably will be putting in an incident report.  Sad

So was Matt's Aston as noisey for everyone else?

This is a new install so there could be a setting that isn't set yet.
