Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 2240s

There are two parts to this incident. Part one concerns Bob M. rejoining the track in an unsafe manner. Part two involves Roguk and Phspok colliding. We will deal with Part one first.
Although Bob M. has convinced himself that his rejoining was the cause of the aforementioned collision we can not support this claim. The replay shows a clear track, from the cockpit of Bob M\\\\\\\'s car at the point of rejoining the track. He joins in a controlled manner and moves to the RHS of the track allowing enough room for others to pass and proceed\\\\\\\'s to accelerate away. We therefore judge this rejoin to be as good as could be expected in the circumstances.
Part two involves Phspok and Roguk who are fast approaching the recovering Bob M. vehicle. Phspok passes Bob M. but is hit by the Roguk who apologises but fails to slow to allow Phspok to retake his position, either immediately or on any lap after the collision. We therefore fine Roguk a three posion penalty.

A somewhat disappointing race for me yesterday.

Picked the Healey here, as it worked well for me last year.  Setup experimentations and countless practice laps shaved 1 sec off my pb of last year. Getting below 1:35 was not easy for me, as I was already straining to get last year's results.  Compared to last year's laptimes, things were looking promising, but alas, with this year's crowd, it just wasn't good enough.

Still struggling to get off the line, and true to form, I lost two places before T1, when both Clive L & Matt slipped in front. That was the start of a fair few frustrating laps.  Could lap faster than the two gents, but couldn't get past. As Clive (Evil) points out, the only real place to overtake is the straight, and here my Healey was outclassed by both the Merc & Aston.

As I couldn't get away, behind me Tony was getting up close and personal.  Trying to prevent him doing a late brake stunt, while at the same time making sure I didn't rearend the two gents in front was not exactly easy.  Finally Clive L rolled his Merc.  That upped the pace a bit for Matt & me, immediately giving me some air down to Tony.  Continued pressuring Matt over a few laps more, until he overshot at T1, sliding up onto the bank.  Finally a clear track ahead and able to put a little distance between myself and the cars behind.

Pit board showed 12 secs to the 2nd place car, but later that lap, a dustcloud and a rejoining Geoffers meant that gap was down to nothing.  Tried to stay with him, but at one point put half a rear tyre on the edge of the track, and promptly skidded off.  Lost 4-5 secs to Geoffers, which I was never able to regain, and thus finished 3rd.

Not right to be disappointed with 3rd, given the competition here, but after the all preparation before this race, it still feels like a bit of a letdown.  Grats to Ziu & Geoffers and all who finished, and thanks to Tony for organising.

Cheers,
Erling

I m happy for win but i dont happy for race because i wanted battle  with Geoffers until the last lap.

Qualy good i was fast on the corners but Clive with his mercedes eats all my advantage on the start straight, it mean that Clive did a great lap, Grats Evil !!!! But honestly i was watching Geoffers because i needed to start on first line for win the race, i did ! And i passed clive on the start i known that Mercedes not culd keep a great pace but was difficult to pass it on the straight.

Me and Geoffers ? We were flying i think also over Healey limit not because lap time but we were as a hammer he passed me on the straight, a great overtake, yeah !!!!! He take the external line on the Tarzan corner. After I put under pressure him and he mistake and get spin but i wanted just stay very closed to him on the last corner for try pass him on the start straight.

After i controlled and i slow down at 10 laps to go.

Grats all !!!!!

For me that was a really enjoyable race. Merc's v Healey's was a challenging combo with the Healey's able to take the twisties better and the Merc faster on the long straights. My race was almost a constant chase with Roger, eClive, Matt and Bob. So many moments that I cannot remember in which order they occured. I did have some hairy off track moments too which undid a load of earlier work and I had to chase down folk all over again. Very happy with the 5th place and the championship is set up nicely with only two races left to go.

The D type......hmmm..... I think I was seduced by the history of its real life ancestry. I cannot squeeze out anything like the quoted top speed, the brake pads appear to be made from discarded corn flake cartons and I have to drift the car through corners to maintain any speed and compensate for the widely spaced ratios in the 4 speed box. The drifting does not extend tire life! Other than that it's a fantastic car   Roll Eyes

Ta, yes the GTL D-Type is a strange beast.  The moders obviously don't accept that one of the great advantages that it had over the Ferraris of the day was its use of disc brakes!  Very handy for stopping at the end of the Mulsanne.

Well, a lonely race for me this time. I Don't really like the Ace and I don't like Zandvoort much either so this seemed an ideal opportunity to dispense with both at the same time. I was faster in some of the other cars I still had available but decided to keep them for a more suitable track. The qualifying lap times confirmed I had bought a knife to a gunfight but hoped that I might make some places due to attrition but it wasn't to be.

Got a great start off the line, I wish I could be as alert all the time, picked up a place on the run down to T1, stayed wide through the turn, and headed off to the left kink into turn 3. It was at this point it all went pear shaped as I realised I was carrying far too much speed given the amount of cars around me so dived for the outside before I rear ended someone, put 2 wheels off the track and spun into the fence.  oops

Rejoined dead last. Was able to overtake Eifelblitz when he had a moment and a few laps later caught and passed Bill but the main pack was extending their lead all the time and I completely lost touch over the following laps.. Apart from lapping Bill and Eifelblitz I didn't see another car until 2 laps from home when Zui appeared in my mirrors, I let him past on the final turn and continued on my way, a long way behind 9th place and well ahead of 11th. Tyres were becoming an issue towards the end of the race and I overshot a few corners but kept it on the tarmac.

Congrats to the Podium, was very impressed how close the field actually was at the end with only the 3 Ace's being left well behind.

Thanks all for the race, it was a blast as always.

ACE wasn't competitive here. For me the race was divided into 3 phases:

Phase 1: after I had a moment during lap 1, I dropped to last place behind Jeep and Bill. Could catch Bill after some laps but was unable to pass through the corner and we had exactly the same speed on the straight. Nice and clean battle. Then Bill made a mistake and I was able to pass.

Phase 2: after I passed Bill I had a calm race at the back of the pack with only some minor offs and letting the leaders past.

Phase 3: during the second half of the race I had a major off, hitting the bridge, and damaged my suspension. Was able to go on but at a far slower pace and with more and more offs. Luckily I could reach the chequered flag  Roll Eyes Cool

Thanks to all involved for organizing - cu next week.

Yeh silly mistake!  Roll Eyes Normally changed up to 4th between Panorama & Pulleveld, but that lap I didn't & when I lifted slightly into the corner it turned in more sharply than I expected & I went up the inside kerb putting the car out of shape & I couldn't recover it. Otherwise it was a good race on a difficult track & I had to drive hard right to the end to with Erling close behind.

Congrats to Ziu & Erling (seem to be saying that a lot recently!)  clap clap

Won't be around next week as I'm at the Le Mans Classic, so cya all at Karlskoga in 2 weeks.  thumbup1

That was the best race of the season as far as fun factor for me, that is until about lap 23.
Hardly a time when I didn't have someone in sight or just ahead of me and the same thing in my mirror. Roger, Tony,Matt and myself were always nose to tail in some kind of order.  Passed and repassed each other what seemed like almost every lap or so.  Austin's & Aston better in the curvies and the Merc coming back on the straights.  Finally got 5th from Matt after he went wide and settled in to hold them off.  Then on L23 my rear tires were about gone and I lost focus and overdrove a corner and went into the weeds.  As I came back on the track they arrived and we had major dodgem/wreck.  My fault for sure!!!  I motored up the track and gave Roger and Tony their places back.  In the replay I saw that Matt had got the worst of it.  I filed a incident report and will take Matt's position and give him mine if they want to do it that way.
Next up the dreaded by me F1 cars, just going to try and finish a race in one of them.......

Reduce "other car volume"

Got this response on NoGrip...............

Open .aud file and scroll down till those lines :
Quote:
// ENGINE VOLUME MIX

playerEngineVolumeMinimum=0.5
playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction=0.3
playerEngineVolumeRevFraction=0.2

non-playerEngineVolumeMinimum=0.2
non-playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction=0.2
non-playerEngineVolumeRevFraction=0.6
If other cars volume is set too high for you then reduce "non-playerEngine" lines.
The rules are in general :
playerEngineVolumeMinimum > non-playerEngineVolumeMinimum

playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction > non-playerEngineVolumeThrottleFraction

PlayerEngineVolumeRevFraction < non-playerEngineVolumeRevFraction

Not tried it yet.

If this is a generic file then it will only do what Tony suggested anyway.

Another bloke suggested getting at the .wav files with an audio editor, which sounds more like what I had in mind.
Suppose I could substitute one of the other engines in the Aston.  Since I don't know what it is supposed to sound like it hardly matters.   Grin
